Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S in P Metric (P285/70R17) I had them on a 2016 JK and on my current 2019 JLU. Soft ride. Only slightly louder that the OEM highway tread tires. It's really my wife's ride, and she likes the look. Surprisingly good wet performance. Not a real off-road tire but they...
Now I'm going to revive it. Had a dead battery yesterday. No idea why, but the battery on this new-to-me Wrangler is new-ish. Threw a 800ma battery tender on it and in a couple hours it was "green" and she started right up. I noticed that the lights around the power/USB ports stay lighted...
Grinch, the changes you made in post #31 are exactly what I need. Since the thread is long and scattered, can you summarize in list format the exact hardware and software you purchased, with Amazon links if possible. It seems like ECRI security bypass, OBDlink LX OBD2, and a JScan...
I bought a used 2019, 38k miles, previously owned by a woman near Miami.
I doubt she ever shifted it into 4WD.
On my first attempt, I thought the transfer case was damaged, it was that difficult to shift. Each subsequent shift has been easier, probably 7 or 8 times now.
When I get near...
Thanks for your help guys. I just needed confirmation that I wasn't missing anything.
The 285/70R17 P Metric Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S is highly rated for wet traction, so maybe I'll go that way.
E rated tires are unnecessarily heavy and stiff for a lightweight, street JLU. My F-150 runs OEM P-Metric. I've owned two 3/4 ton trucks that were properly equipped with E rated tires.
I guess if you're rock crawling and want the added sidewall durability, it makes sense. In this case, I'm...
I've ordered new wheels for my bone stock 2019 JLU Sport which currently has 245/75R17 Michelin M+S P-Metric tires on stock wheels. Tires are almost worn out, but ride is nice.
This is a street/Beach Jeep. It'll see sand and some gravel forest service roads. That's about it, but looking for...
If you bought a Wouxun KG-1000G (or an MXT275), I don't think you're in for any "serious trouble". Both will be serviceable radios and you'll find improvements to the antenna installation will bring the most benefit.
What did you buy?
Looks like the 575 has all controls in the mic and appears to be the same as the 275...Except 50 watts vs 15.
The website says they're out of stock, but asking price is $399 !!!!!! 50 watts is nice, and helpful in remote locations, but that's a pretty steep price to pay IMO. An ICOM IC-2730a...
Added a Terraflex tailgate hinge antenna mount. My Diamond NR73BNMO antenna sticks up about 4" above the roof line. Had to drill out the inboard hole to fit an SO-239 barrel connector.
The Diamond NR73BNMO doesn't need a ground plane and has (on my truck) acceptable SWR across multiple bands...
There is some truth to that. It's why Hams can talk to the International Space Station from a handheld....There are NO obstructions. Unfortunately, most of us have to communicate through some type of obstructions, whether it's trees, buildings, or suburban electrical interference. In that...
Quick check of Amazon reveals a UV5X, GMRS out of the box, $60 for a pair. Thats a good way to get started...Just get your license online so the "sad hams" don't blow a gasket.
