This to was a concern of mine after I noticed the solenoid pulling power off the batteries but in all honesty it only pulls the charge down to the 12.7 threshold approx. and then the relay directs the solenoid to open and no further power is pulled from them and then the only draw comes off of...
As @unsavory advised it only draws power when connected and closed.
if your Jeep is setting and you push the boost button and it clicks then the main crank battery has dropped in voltage to 12.7 +/- .1
On the Genesis system there is a smart relay and Cole Hersey solenoid, when you start your JL the relay looks to see if the voltage is 13.2 (aaprox) or above for two minutes it then sends power to close the solenoid which connects the batteries as one and the reason for this is to take the...
My keep has been parked at the airport for 10-12 days before and I had zero issues with it starting, maybe the next time itās parked for that long I need to see what my full size aux resting voltage is before I hit that start button.
I do know I have be out in Sam Houston park and had lights on...
@Chocolate Thunder if you have JSCAN I believe there is a setting for front light diagnostics and you can toggle this to off, doing so the JL will no longer look at this so Iām thinking it should fix your error message.
All vehicles have parasitic draw and the Genesis sys does add to that draw powering the Cole Hersey relay/solenoid but only until the main crank battery drops to 12.7 +/- .1 then it opens/disconnects and that draw goes away.
Any newer vehicle if parked that long should be on some type of...
Iāve had my Genesis system with Full River batteries stalled since fall of 2020 and have zero regrets as it have done itās job more than once getting me out of a jam and provides me with extra power I need.
The average Jeeper that does not run aux equipment does have better options that cost...
I have used both and my preference is JSCAN, from a cost standpoint itās a no brainer and I honestly never liked the whole marry/unmarry process.
The one thing Tazer handles better than JSCAN is ESS but thatās an easy fix and still cost less overall.
@InjectedCJ7 for your reading pleasure, the NOCO 10 is one of the best chargers for a stock setup, heck I use it weekly on my Genesis setup. The way all these newer vehicles are designed today with high parasitic draw plus anything we add which makes it worst anyone is best suited to add a...
I personally would love to have a retractable one, lots of times I want some of the sun coming in and having a retractable shade would make it so easy, I have looked at a way to make my fixed shade at least removable without much effort but thereās just no way with the way it clips to the...
Mine has been on for quite sometime and simply love the easy of flipping two levers and popping open, itās been perfect with zero leaks.
The hardest part was the āZā clip install, hereās a vid to give him an idea on the clips.
I chose to install the clips before putting on my JL
I was advised by Bestop that there was not enough interest in this to pursue this option, I surely wish there was as I would gladly give them $$ for this.
@roaniecowpony I never claimed I was educated in proper punctuation or to be grammatically correct and yes I do tend to run on and on but then my OCD drives my life and my mind runs a million miles per hour 24/7.
I have tried and tried to slow down but once I start typing itās like a runaway...
Jerry,
My IBS has been disabled for quite awhile and so far so good, I have had my batteries load tested several times and they have passed.
I normally put my JL on a charger once a week using a NOCO 10 and monthly I do a deep conditional charge using a 6 stage odyssey 20, i think I benefit...
Since I currently run the Genesis system my system seems to more stable on charging as now it does not monitor the aux battery itās hooked up to and as Jerry and I have discussed with the way the relay opens and closes on my setup the IBS gets confused on charging.
Currently my factory ESS...
@CarbonSteel this is how my system operates ( same as yours ) even though I donāt run the stock setup, I had some issues with the battery protection mode but since disabling the IBS all has been 100% and I rarely see 14+ unless itās been parked for a week and then the voltage drops to the mid...
