Buy a base 2dr Wrangler Willys and start fresh again. Get a manual. Go wheeling stock for the challenge. Might be able to justify it as it's relatively cheap vs your modded Sahara.
Love this suggestion!

See you said room for 4 and while the JL can fit 4 adults its not really fun to get back there and unless both people in the front are short its not the best for comfort. But really the best answer to which Jeep should I get is always the 2-door and figure out how to make it work.
Yeah, a 2-door might work. I carry four people only on occasion.

My last 2-door was a 2013 Rubicon. It was a hoot!

I wish i could persuade you to continue jeeping but completely understand that situations drive our actions..

My suggestion would be the new Tundra, or wait just a bit longer for that powertrain to make it to the upcoming 4runner new generation

Tundra is way too big for me.

Vehicles that keep turning my head are Bronco Sport, Tacoma, Gladiator and Wrangler 2-door.

Bronco Sport - production has been offline for months while Ford fixes some recall issues.

Tacoma - as much as I like the looks, I can’t go back due to the shitty power train. Perhaps wait for the all-new Tacoma to come out later this year.

Gladiator - test drove it; didn't quite like it.

Wrangler 2-door sounds more and more like the right ticket.

Full disclosure - I looked up Bronco 2-door. While I hate a lot of the Bronco, including the wobbly windows and the looks of the 4-door, I do like the looks of the 2-door. I think Ford got the proportions right. But the prices are insane. Bronco 2-door makes Wrangler 2-door look like deal of the century!

I know you said you are done with Jeep, but what about the upcoming Jeep Recon? While it is electric, it gets you better road capability, 0-60 in les than 4 secs, and you can still take the doors off.
I’m done with Jeep dealers.

Stellantis has said that Recon’s starting price will be $60,000. By the time it hits the market, the starting price will have gotten closer to $65,000 or $70,000. That’s a non-starter with me.

Easy.............. find someone who wants to trade a two door ruby for your 4 door.....many folks out there needing to upgrade to a 4 door.

i parked end to end with a rubicon 2 dr and chatted with her yesterday at the store, she loved it
I did enjoy watching Tommy’s Willys 2-door series very much.

There was something about going back to Jeep’s rugged simplicity tradition that I found very appealing.

What would really piss me off is if I order a Wrangler 2-door and then Jeep announces a longer version...

What you need is a 2 door wrangler. Keep it on 33s and low center of gravity to enjoy the fuel economy. Or get the willys and keep the 32s.

I cant think of anything that you want that would have good fuel economy. A 2 door jeep will have better fuel economy than a 4runner for sure.

You do seem to trade vehicles often so you could just trade it for the longer version if you really hate it lol. That's not gonna happen anyway in the short term I dont think. And this could be the last 2 door.

The new twin-turbo V6 might start making it into the next gen tacoma TRDs at least as an option. Thats the engine that is getting me excited for the yotas again.

Gladiator is not much different from a wrangler - the problems and the dealership shenanigans will remain unchanged in that decision

Building up a base 2-dr could be a fun project.. you just have to go in with the assumption that you don't have any warranty right from day-1 and build an eventually awesome rig. Might be better off starting with a Pentastar V6 e-torque and then replace rest with better or best options aftermarket

Next Tacoma is supposed to come with a 2.5T and a 2.5HEV. Haven’t heard about the TRD getting the V6TT.
