Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness. Subaru has the best AWD out, great fuel economy and aftermarket including Bumpers, winch mounts, light mounts, lift kits. Add all of the above and still enjoy 27MPG combined. Quite reliable too.
Just purchased a 2023 Forester Wilderness last month. last week got 18 inches overnight at our house. The big trucks with stock tires spun their wheels and thundered. I left Jeep in garage and figured what the heck if I get stuck i'm close to home. Selected deep snow setting and drove right out, I was impressed with the system and the 3 peak stock Geolanders. The ride has the soft feel of the Mojave Gladiator.

Base 2 door seems like the best option.. I think it checks off all the boxes for you.
I had a tacoma as well, id never go back lol
I had a 2018 Tacoma and the seated position, cramped interior, no CarPlay (Kia rentals had them a few years prior) and engine / transmission combo that constantly fought each other were awful. It’s the most disappointing vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve had a lot of cars. I sold it after a year and I finally ordered a Powerboost F150.

Yeah, 2012 is so 11 years ago, CVT, oil burning, head gaskets are old news today.
I have been living those issues from year 3 of ownership on. If was only occurring on an 8-year old plus vehicle, I would be more understanding. I don't know if Subaru's are any better today (outside of consuming oil), but I won't be finding out again.

I like them. I just bought a 22 Crosstrek 6MT. Very comfortable ride and all of the creature comforts for under 30K.

UPDATE

Swapped out the 35x12.5 General Grabber ATXs for a set of 285/75R18 Nokian Outpost ATs.

The Nokians measure 35x11.2 inches, weigh 10 lbs less, and have a more on-road friendly thread. The OE Sahara rims weigh 3 lbs less each, as well.

The Jeep rides and corners a lot better. The constant up-and-down rebound of the wider, heavier tires is gone, as are the lumbering feel and the freeway humming.

I will miss the white CJ Retro wheels, but the Jeep drives so much better. I am happy with the change overall.
