Yike
Yikes. When you say it left you stranded, what was happening? If no codes, what indicated that it could not be driven?
edited: never mind, I read your previous post.
fortunately, I havenāt seen anything above 240 but we bought it in February.
fortunately, I havenāt seen anything above...
Iāve posted about this before and other forum members and the service advisor at my dealer have said to ignore temps unless it throws a code.
On mine around town and on any trail, even coasting downhill, fan comes on high briefly at 231F and temp drops to 215 ish, then repeat. Over and over...
I just bought a Ram 1500 and for the most part, it runs at a very consistent temperature (204 ish) unless under heavy load. The Wrangler, on the other hand, cycles between 212 and 230 every minute. The fan comes on around 231, temps drop right away, fan shuts off, repeat. The only time the...
I was totally prepared to accept it as itās established that itās still within normal operating temp except that the engine was pinging quite a bit until at some point, the thermostat must have opened up because itās the coolest Iāve seen it run.
Re pinging, Only got 1800 miles on itā¦ maybe...
Same here! Mine has consistently been running between 220 and 235 on and off road at a variety of speeds and cooler ambient temps. Everyone including dealer assured me all is well.
Today on the trail, however, I noticed a fair amount of engine pinging at light throttle. That went on for a bit...
I guarantee that they didnāt fix that. Headroom would cost MPGs and adding an up/down seat adjustment or more than one literal inch to the telescoping steering wheel would be at least a $12 part. No way Toyota even considered it.
Most uncomfortable vehicle I ever owned, and I drove two Civics...
Also worth mentioning: driving over the curb with heavy throttle didnāt seem to be a problem for the Wrangler. Two coworkers did the same thing (due to snow / ice presumably) and incurred $5000+ repair bills. So thereās that.
Weāve gotten used to the cramped footwell and fortunately, no more mishaps. I mansplained (does that apply to gays?) to my husband how to adjust seated position and be conscious of foot placement.
Itās a small price to payā¦ the Wrangler has been my favorite vehicle of the 9 Iāve owned!
Iāve been told by my dealer and several on this forum that 230 ish is more than okay around town, cruising down forest roads, etc even when itās close to freezing out š¤
when my fan comes on, itās usually for 10 second bursts.
I totally agree! I would be totally ticked about the Jeep experience but let me tell you about my Tacoma: I bought a brand new one in 2018 without doing much research because they are so wildly popular. It was the most disappointing vehicle Iāve ever owned (Iāve purchased 9 new cars).
The...
All stock everything. I used this inexpensive stuff recommended by @AnnDee4444

Thank you! This is helpful.
Off road, the MTs definitely instill confidence. Iāve played in some mud and along wet trails and they did great. In town driving isnāt bad, either. Itās the 60+ MPH driving that gets annoying.
We live in Central Oregon and most of our off roading will be along...
Actually, Iāve seen it leak way more than this. If you hit it with the right angle, they all leak. We looked at others on the lot and you can literally see daylight in both corners or the glass.
30s mostly. In that pic itās 36. Maybe as ambient temps rise, fan will come on more. You mentioned that itās fineā¦ dealer says donāt bring it in until I see 140+ š¬
All highway driving is 195ā¦ any cruising 20 MPH or less is 220 ish. Ambient temps are 30s. Dealer says normal. Fan comes on sparingly and only for 10 seconds or so.
