Reality is, it is really easy to disconnect the two cables plugged into the Mini and then just take the Mini inside to your laptop/desktop and do the firmware update at your desk, in comfort, rather then carrying the laptop out to the JL and lets say juggling the laptop, etc..

Anyway, the answer to your question is yes, you can update the Tazer JL Mini while it is hooked up to the two gateway cables.

Updating Firmware while Mini is attached to the gateway cables:

1. Unmarry the Tazer JL Mini
2. Turn the JL off and open the Driver's Door
3. Now, wait until you see the dash turn off (you will wait about a minute)
4. Attach your laptop to the Tazer JL Mini using the USB cable that came with your Mini
5. Laptop / sufficient battery life or is plugged into elec. (DO NOT power it off while updating firmware!)
6. Proceed with the firmware update
7. After the firmware is completed, have the laptop operating system, eject the attached hardware... the Mini
8. Now, disconnect the USB cable
9. Start your JL and remarry the TazerJL Mini
10. Check your tester settings .... Select features, enable/disable menu items as desired

If I wanted to put some interior lights on the light show that were directly wired to the aux buttons. If I wanted to have a device triggered in the rear when a turn signal was activated.... Things like that. I can't give away too much before I do it It would just be nice if it could happen. I've never used one before so I'm not familiar with the possibilities. Since I do automation for a living though I thought if would be fun to be creative.

In regard to the Tazer JL firmware. You can say, update to newer firmware version and then revert back to an older version of firmware.

Do unmarry the Tazer JL before you update/change it's firmware.

Do I download the newest version first to my computer and then bring the mini in. Or all at the same time.

I myself, ahead of time, download the desired firmware from the ZAutomotive webite:
https://zautomotive.com/tazer-jl-updates/

If I remember correctly, the ZPU utility program you use when working with firmware, will reach out and get the current final release, firmware. Of course, your laptop has to have Wifi access to do this.

Any update for disabling auto park? I heard that one of the recent recalls won't allow the Tazer to disable auto park anymore, which is definitely the case for me. I HATE AUTO PARK MORE THAN ESS!

Yes, I hear you, backing up to trailer, or going through gates, where you have to close them behind you, etc....PITA for sure. Hopefully joe will figure a fix for it.

Exactly....I also find myself wanting to open the drivers door when backing up at night in parking lots just to triple check nothing is behind me, because the oem LED reverse lights are worthless, so the backup camera can't see anything.

I pulled a buddy out the other day wheeling, and he has older Jeep, didn’t know about it, his exact words, dude, why you shutting your door every time you get back in you affraid your gonna fall out,..... I almost left him there.

Just fasten the seat belt behind you instead the normal in front of you. You can then open the door and drive the JL forward or backwards and Auto Park will not kick in.

I think there is an issue disabling AP by the Tazer, mine originally worked but then I had the cruise control update and it stopped and that was many, many moths ago and now I see the 11.07h firmware states AP kill only works on 2018’s that have not had the cruise control update/recall

If Joe could get that done, I believe he would have done so already.

So, do not hold your breath so to speak in regard to Tazer JL being able to disable Autopark for all JL's.

I'm wondering if one of these seat belt clips stuck in the driver's side female buckle will trick the JL into thinking the seat belt is buckled and then disable auto park.

The tazer can’t read the AUX buttons directly (but if you don’t have them and add the mopar kit, it can enable them)
What are you trying to automate? tazer latest firmware beta includes the mapping of 3 of the cruise buttons as hotkeys for many of Tazer’s functions.

Which cc buttons are the hotkeys and what are the functions? I can't seem to find anything on the website.
