The TazerJL is not doing what you are spewing.

Look for another reason for your issue.
If it works for you, so be it...great. Anything blocking the OBD port could cause the problem, not just the Tazer. Since a lot on this Forum use the Tazer, I thought it best to express my experience with it. It appears there are, others having the same issue.
Your Jeep, do what you want; don't like my post, scroll past or deal with it.

With 11.06 firmware most are only using the ESS disable function, AP and Turncam are buggy so a lot of us only use when necessary or don’t use those features at all so if ESS does not bother you and your not using the rest of the below live functions with 11.06 you can unplug the Tazer after changing what vehicle settings you want, when you change a vehicle setting it’s basically the same as the dealer flashing the JL but it’s reversible by unmarrying the Tazer, by unplugging it there is nothing in the OBDII port so no chance for a parasitic draw or conflict with Uconnect

Live features with 11.06

AutoStopStart disable
- AutoTracKill
- Can disconnect sway bar in 2WD up to 30mph
Can use backup camera and added cargo/front/undercarriage camera or media player at
any speed
- TurnCAM
- AP Kill
- Light Show mode
- Cooldown mode
- Line Lock
- Rock Crawl
- Winch Mode.
- Clear CELs
- 0 to 30 and 0 to 60 Timers

Op, have you considered the tazer jl mini, it plugs in a different spot and does the same features, I’m running the 11.0.7 and everything works, including unconnect apps. The only thing that doesn’t really work is auto park but I think that’s a problem with all of them. Just throwing that out there.

For those reading this thread... Do know that having the Tazer JL plugged into the OBDll port or the Tazer JL Mini or Tazer JL Lite plugged into the gateway will not not prevent your JL from receiving OTA (Over the Air) updates, will not cause you issues with your Uconnect app, etc., will not prevent one from getting Off Road Pages.

Many, and I mean many, many that have Tazer JL's installed, have, over the last few months, stated they have had no issues with OTA updates and or have they had Uconnect related issues that can be blamed on the Tazer JL.

Yes, 2 or maybe 3 JL owner's, since April, have voiced concern or stated they believe/think, the Tazer JL has caused issues with Uconnect.

In closing, it stands to reason that with the majority of Tazer JL owner's stating no issue that the 2 or 3 with issues have something else causing Uconnect hiccups.

I post this, as I don't want some poor slug, reading this thread and sucking up misinformation. Indeed, the Tazer JL has current issues, but the aforementioned is not one of the issues.. 8-) Yes, the Tazer JL may be possibly, be keeping the Unconnect awake and thus depleting batteries but this is another issue altogether.

As @Rhinebeck01 has stated the Tazer does have a few bugs that @joe@zauto is aware of and is working on possible solutions like turncam and autopark, the issues some are having with looping and Uconnect being awake and running down batteries may not even be tied to the Tazer as some here that have had battery issues dont even have a Tazer, I personally am taking daily voltsge readings with and without the Tazer plugged in and doing it for 7 days on each and currently am on day 3 with it plugged in and so far I have had no issues but that’s not to say it’s not a slow parasitic draw or even something in the code of one particular function of the Tazer that one is using that is causing this issue.

To me the Tazer is basically a computer that has a stored program the when directed executes a particular function and we all know sometimes it get buggy, just look at all the crap Microsoft has kicked out over the years.

We all can assume this or that and it’s really easy to point the finger and say “ after I installed the Tazer my battery died” yes that is possible but others using the same piece of equipment may not have that issue and like I said it comes down to what functions on the Tazer you are using, it would be easier if after plugging the Tazer in it was all or nothing as that would help narrow things down but when you have a piece of hardware that allows you lots of different things to change the guy that has issues may have picked a different function to change than the guy that is not having trouble that did not pick that function but that’s where Joe has to look at the firmware and see if he can pinpoint what may be causing this.

Here is a real good example, my son has a 2018 JL Rubicon and it does not have the beefier alternator or battery, well we were discussing his oil change issue on the phone and I asked him about what EVIC voltage he was seeing, well he’s not as OCD as I am and told me that the times he has looked at it the voltsge is 14+ but mine runs 12.8-14 and both vehicles did this from day one and I have a Tazer and he does not and even with the Tazer removed my voltage is the same so does he have and issue or do I have one.... it’s kinda like how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop ... maybe I need to ask the wise owl :like:

Hey @WranglerMan do you know how to measure the actual parasitic draw on your battery? It was simple in the old days of just having one battery. All you do is disconnect either the positive or the negative of the battery, connect one multitester lead to the disconnected battery cable and the other multitester lead to battery terminal where the cable used to be connected. Flip your multitester on to read amps.

Make sure everything is off on the jeep first like lights, radio blower etc because these multitester can only test up to 10 amps before they blow an internal fuse.

With two batteries I think it is more difficult but I’ll see if I can figure it out

@tmakaro I would think it would be just as easy at least for the ESS battery but I’m thinking for the main battery you would have to first pull the ESS negative off the main negative then pull the main negative and measure that way

Can I reset the TPMS minimum pressure with the taser. They came in at 42psi and I dropped them to 31 and my light is on all the time. Also would like to engage lockers in 2wd or 4 high.

I'm not an electrician, so apologies if this is a dumb question... couldn't you just use a clamp meter like this one to see measure current flowing out of each battery without disconnecting anything?

Full disclosure, I'm trying to find a good excuse to buy a clamp meter to replace my $20 Innova. :)

Question from a new JL owner and first time Tazer JL user, if I use the Tazer to change the tire size on my JL, can I just unplug it or do I have to, “unmarry” it first and then unplug it? Does, “unmarrying” cancel the changes and bring the Jeep back to factory settings? For right now all I want the Tazer to do is change the tire size so I don’t need to keep it plugged in. Thanks for any help.

If you unmarry the Tazer it will right back all the original factory settings, any vehicle settings do not require the Tazer or bypass module to be plugged in to work it’s only the live settings that require it to be plugged in so in your case if you change tire size and say readjust your TPMS limits you can just unplug the Tazer and put it in a box and not worry about it but when going in for service even an oil change I would recommend you unmarry the Tazer to put it all back to factory and also remove the SGW bypass module and plug the two connectors back in

My JL uconnect app does not work when my Tazer lite is plugged in. I can remote start my Jeep via uconnect online, but it does not work on my iphone. When I remove the Tazer, the uconnect app starts working again. I'm not sure what version I'm running, I'll have to check.

I believe clamp meters only work for alternating current. For DC, you need to do an in-line measurement or measure the voltage drop across a known resistance
