Yep it sucks. I just wear sun glasses. Haven't flipped down a sun visor in 35 years.
Exactly right. Nothing beats a good quality pair of shades. If/when one visor breaks, the pair will go in the trash can.

While some of us can install Jeep lift kits in our garage, others couldn't swap out a light switch for a dimmer switch if their life depended on it. It's insane Stellantis let's this defect go unresolved and 'assumes' the fix will be people doing their own repairs.
I would live with having to retrofit my visors if they would fix the galvanic corrosion issue

I've installed the well-regarded repair clips as a purely speculative measure. My line of sight is already near the top of the windscreen, meaning the sun visors are there in name only. I've thought about removing them, actually, to gain perhaps an additional 3/4" of visibility.

Hard to believe its cheaper to produce and repair defective sun visor mounts as opposed to a tried and true solution used in virtually every other vehicle. I'd like to meet the bean counter who rejects the notion of building a foolproof version going forward . . .
It's more than just the cost to re-engineer and re-order the parts for new vehicles, it's also potential complaining from all the other owners who will want the fix given retroactively. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it might still be understandable why they don't "fix" it if the repair costs for the ones who say something under warranty is less. Of course there's the goodwill factor of identifying a problem and correcting it going forward but, again, corporate citizen vs. human...

I'm not saying to replace them on all the old vehicles (I.e. recall), just replace them when broken and requested, extend the warranty on this part through a TSB to 5 or 7 years. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But there's no excuse to continue to produce a defective part when they are aware

I think part of the problem is they slam into the up position. I’m very gentle with them, but my wife and daughter forget and are always surprised by how it slams when they put them back up, even after two or three times in a row?‍♂.

On the bright side, I did install the reinforcement kit soon after I bought my Jeep and haven’t had any issues yet. But I could definitely see how repeated use of just letting it slam to the up position would destroy the stock fasteners over time.

I put the reinforcement clips on mine first day, but am still seeing a LOT of play on the bracket. It’s bizarre. I only use the sun visors to hold up my sunshade, so it’s not a huge issue if they go belly up. I’ll just have to figure out a way to keep the sunshade up without them until I use @Roky ’s fix, if and when that time comes.

Same here. I know that if I ever do have one break, I'll use the other method that uses a snap ring or a press on locking retainer. Not paying $20 for those overpriced brackets.
I started to do one of the snap ring repairs. Those $20 brackets are worth their weight in gold. I have never wasted my time visiting the dealer...

Visor? PSH!

I just do this, plus at the same time, acts as a Jeep Wave ??

No joke, but I keep forgetting to stash a pair of sunglasses in the Jeep and knowing damn well about the visor problem, I just jacked my seat up real high and if needed, use one hand to block the sun. There could be a stack of hundred dollar bills above the visor for all I know, but I'll probably never find out ?

I would rather not rely on the screws in plastic holding it up. I simply don't like the looks of the added bracket anyway. A metal retainer clipped onto metal and completely hidden is my preference and it's an easy project for skilled people. At least we agree on one thing by not going to the dealership about it.

With slightly over 150K miles between my '20 and '21 JLs and always using my visors to shield the sun, no problems whatsoever. I try to be gentle with stuff tho.
