Wife and I were on our way to lunch after church today and I was waving at all the Jeeps and being annoying to her by saying, "what the heck!? No one is waving back!" Her response, "we're not in the Jeep." Well, I own a Jeep so I was still doing the Jeep wave.
I’ve done the same thing when in my PU.

From being a prior WRX owner, to moving into a ‘21 Willys Q3 last year, I loved how the Wrangler community also had a “wave” to fellow drivers (Jeep is better…and not just because I own one now).

I have passed countless Jeeps around town, but as of late, I am finding more and more don’t wave, and unfortunately, have even driven by some real “special” individuals who think that a residential street is a one lane road and more than likely being driven by someone who thinks they’re cooler than they really are ??‍♂. I am by no means generalizing this as ALL Jeep owners, but it sucks when you see another owner, get excited, throw up the wave and…nothing

Random rant I know, but what gives? Is throwin up a ‘Jeep hello’ really that hard?

ANYHOW…Happy Easter all! ? ?

I always wave being a fairly new to the Jeep world. Every time the wife always asks who’s that. I always say don’t know but must be a nice group.

one note, I have had people wave to me as I’m turning quickly or going fast by each other. Sometimes you just can’t wave even if you want to. If they see you though and don’t, then just be glad they probably aren’t the ones on the trail with us.

Agreed. Get over "the wave". Talk Jeeps in a parking lot, at club meet-ups, or wherever, but don't expect a wave from everyone on the other side of the road and don't get bent out of shape if you don't get one. I'd buy a beer for any Jeep owner and pick your brain about Jeep adventures or mods, but I don't "wave" unless someone waves at me. There are too many Jeeps out there now and it's stupid anyway. Just as dumb as the headlight flashes in the 70's and 80's between Mercedes drivers. If you get excited for a wave and then depressed or rant that you don't get one, that's your problem.
Lmfao certainly not depressed, purely sharing a rant. Didn’t realize it would trigger you so much.

Just an observation about the wave, but in my area at least, I've noticed the ones least likely to wave are driving Saharas. My assumption is they're the ones most likely to buy it off the lot for the looks and not necessarily into or understanding of the culture? Doesn't bother me, just like I said, an observation.

Being surrounded by college kids and old people, they’re either oblivious to the “culture” or struggling to keep the vehicle on a straight path to wherever they think they’re going. I wave when I catch them but I don’t find myself hunting down Wranglers just to wave.

Interesting take.

What I've observed is that, across all Wrangler drivers, those most likely to initiate or return a wave are women. Coincidentally, they're also the ones most frequently observed driving Saharas (known here as "the pretty Jeep".) Again, it's interesting how these things play out.

When I had an evo, I probably waved to 4 people just because of how rarely you'd see another one. Was always a cool thing to see someone else who liked the same car. In my wrx, I never bothered. Saw them almost daily. In a wrangler, I'd be waving to every 4th car I pass. They are all over town, and totally not interesting.

Maybe I'll wave if I see another one in sarge, or if they wave first. Maybe. Probably not. Maybe I'm the bad guy.

Probably why I've been waving at Subies, lol. Literally saw maybe 3 or 4 Evos in the past decade around here. Guys in an STi would always wave first, so that's probably what got me waving at WRXs as well. Hell, I'll wave at anything I find interesting or don't see around too often.

You're the one who ranted and invited comment, not me...

Harley and Jeep owner so I’ve got two waves going on. Lol. Observations. I live in an area with lots of Jeeps. I mean lots. The ones that don’t wave typically look stock. Waves are very frequent when Jeep is modded. Lift, lights, bigger tires, etc. ditto on the Harley. Harley folks always wave. Crotch rockets wave. Can Ams wave. Folks on a metric like a BMW or Gold Wing never wave. Not bashing them, just stating my experience.

I used to ride a Harley Davidson and got really tired of constantly waving to everyone so often it became non enjoyable just to ride. I get it really, but when is it not OK just to enjoy yourself without feeling you just dissed someone. There are now more Jeeps around here than motorcycles. I still wave to fellow Jeepers just not everyone. Relax it’s all good.

When I first got a bike as a noob I was riding on highway about 70 or so and a bunch of riders passed and waved and I raise my hand and about lost my arm when my hand hit the wind just right and ripped it straight up and flopped around.

I was oh that is why they waved down near their knee! Felt like an idiot.

If you wave in Alberta, the cops get you for distracted driving.
