I'm a firm believer that the internet has given way too many people a voice. Remember when they were just that weird relative you had to invite to dinner then you spent the whole meal wishing they would leave? Ya, those people ALL have a voice now. Lol
It's like "telephone tough guy", except we get to see the bad spelling instead of hearing it.

hahahaha If you really care what others think about the car you drive, your life must suck.

snob and jeep are two words that just don't go together. If you think they do, then you're just a tool to begin with.

Here's a hint.

Jeep's are not special, exotic or rare. And you aren't better than anyone else.
Dude. really?

All those options are for ME ME ME ME ME. hahaha

For my needs. for my shit. For my pleasure.

It's good you are aware of your really weird concern on what other think though.

My suggestion is therapy. Fast.
I think this is the same Internet Tough Guy who got banned recently, I already forgot his username. Same exact tone and smarmy bro-hipster Fight Club attitude.

Ted,

I don't think that came out right. For me, I'll wave to you whether you're wheeling or not. Just driving a Jeep, regardless of type or trim, associates a kindred spirit. Driving something that can take you literally anywhere most people can only imagine, is enough for me. They don't need to prove anything more than a simple willingness to be driving it (at all). They very well may be on their way to run something I could only drool on.

So if you drive any type of Wrangler or Gladiator, on or off road, you'll earn a wave from me.

For the record, as a Marine, I'll continue the tradition of the two finger 'V' victory salute. In honor of all the service men who started this tradition in WWII.

Merry Christmas fellow Jeeper
Jay
Well said and that is what I mean. It is a wave a simple friendly gesture. If you wave, I am waving back. If your jeep is modded at all, I am waving.

If he was, I believe his tone this second time had mellowed down just a little compared to the first time.

By the third time he gets banned and the fourth new account he creates...he should get it just right... ?

I think fro. Now on im just gunna wave at myself when a jeeper passes ;)

One more thing, if I would wheel with you, I will wave to you. I don't care if you have a XJ, renegade, what ever, if you wheel it and wave, I will wave back. As it should be.

I have the urge to wave to other Jeeps whether I’m in mine or not. Caught myself a few times and now I don’t care… if it is a cool Jeep I’m waving, don’t care what I am driving.

Snobbery, LOL go to Moab and hang out at the Market on main and be asking if you can wheel with them.

What, that Jeep is yours?

Let us know if you get a lift on it?

You cannot keep up and we will leave you behind if cannot make and obstacle.

I have heard it all. As we Harley riders say: Chrome don't get you home...and a 6 in lift does not mean you can cross the Rubicon.

Twice I was approached by a major Jeep mag and they wanted to put my Jeep in the mag. But It looked to plain Jane. They told me if I just tarted that thing up with a lot of DoDa made it look like the ones in the mags. I told them my Jeep was built to wheel and not be a party girl. Yes it looks mostly box stock...I said why not a heads Jeep with mine and say 3 others forward and back on the Pritchett Canyon, no straps, no winches and see who makes the trip.

I've waved at folks in traffic in our little area for decades. Got the habit from my Pop, who did it ALL the time, because he probably recognized every vehicle passing by him; he was a 30-year UPS driver and, I think, literally knew everyone in our region. Lots of folks wave at each other in traffic here, Jeep or no; it's just a friendly, nice thing to do. I'm very new to Jeep ownership, and plan on continuing to wave to all I pass by, if I remember to, and it may be a full-on parade queen wave, a #1, a "You Really ARE #1, or whatever. Not planning on taking up the super secret Jeep owner WaveTM just because I own a Jeep now, nor only reserve my waves to the super secret cult of Jeep Wrangler owners, or the triple super secret Rubicon owners faction of the cult. I'll wave, even if you won't,and even if you're in a Yugo or a Ford. Not enough friendly out there today.

Interesting thread! Back in 1997 a 16 year old me with a part-time job in retail used to fantasize about owning a green w/tan top Sahara. By the time I could afford one (maybe), I let people convince me they weren't safe (rollover), or that I didn't need one. In the mid 2000-s I became good friends with a guy who sold Subarus, and it was all over from there.

Now, on an overseas deployment, I ventured into Military Auto Sales to see what's what. After talking myself out of a Challenger, then a Mustang, then a new Harley, I finally pulled the trigger on a Jeep. I'd love one of the latter, but doesn't make sense where I live to garage a 50k sports car, or a 20k motorcycle most of the year when there are other fun options around (Yay adulting!). I thought about a Willys or a Rubicon, but, there isn't much of a trail scene where I live, so not paying for features I'll never use. My Sarge Green JLU Sport S was supposed to go into production 12/23, and I can't wait. Yeah, it may never see trails, but it's my $$$ and what I want.

I've been haunting the forum for a while now, and the snobbery was something I noticed pretty much immediately. That, and the way some members consistently jump on folks (deserved or not) when they ask questions. My Jeep probably won't make any trail runs (but, who knows), and you can call it a "mall-crawler" all you want. I don't go to malls anymore, and all I do is work, so maybe "work-crawler" is more accurate. To me, it's about the heritage, something cool, and a check-the-box I wanted to check.

I'm pretty curmudgeon-y, but I'm sure I'll wave to fellow Jeepers, and, if I keep it longer than a few months, maybe start passing out these ducks I keep hearing about. Everyone here, you do YOU, especially if it's what YOU want, and it makes YOU happy.

Oh, I'm still debating a new Harley too...

I see it as passion more than snobbery. At least I would hope that is what is driving those that opine. Merry Christmas!

I bought this guy back in August. It's a 2020 with 30K miles and I know absolutely nothing about Jeeps. People ask me about the mods, and I tell them I bought it like that and that's when I get the snub. Like if you didn't build it yourself then you're obviously not a real Jeep enthusiast. Maybe I like the looks and had a little bit of money and didn't want to hassle with the build. Maybe I want to learn about Jeeps (which is why I'm here) and maybe I don't want to go rock crawling but I do want to hit some decent off road trails. Who cares what Jeep you have, I'll wave at you anyway.
