You guys are getting hit hard in that area! I just watched a video of a guy in Toronto that was able to track his Grand Cherokee to a shipping container headed to Nigeria!
in my area never thought it would happen, or happen to me. Well here I am. I’m even debating not getting another jeep (probably will). However, all the stories from friends and cops say good chance if you buy the same vehicle it’s getting stolen again.

it is frustrating as you pay all this money and it can be taken in under a minute. Where’s the accountability?

If the guy was armed and engaged mid-robbery maybe but I’m gonna say tracking someone 20 miles is gonna be a tough sell.
Yeah, there's a difference between defending your property in the moment versus tracking someone down and killing them after the fact.

You can track them down, nothing wrong or illegal about that. It's what happens when you try and retrieve your property. It's at that moment it needs to become a self defense situation to stay out of jail.

the time will come when there's a confrontation between a jeep owner and a thief caught red handed in carry state.
Unfortunately, the innocent and victim(s) are losing their rights at an alarming speed.

It's already happening here in Texas....a San Antonio man tracked his truck down with a Apple AirTag and shot and killed the thief!
This guys deserves an award. One less legal case to go through the system, and a piece of crap removed from existence.

Even if you tracked down your stolen vehicle and told the police the location of the suspect, I highly doubt that they would put their own lives on the line to retrieve it.

The Can Bus is a relatively open network that folks are gonna attack more and more. First I have seen using the headlights/taillights to access the can bus and move laterally into the security/engine modules to steal cars...
Jr Engineer: "Hey, the CANBUS should be secured so it can't be hacked from extraneous connections."
Sr Engineer: "What? Nobody would ever bother doing that. It's fine as is."

Thank you, yes it was covered with insurance but I won't be able to recover the aftermarket mods or items I had inside. I had read somewhere that homeowners insurance covers some personal items left in vehicles but after the deductible I don't believe it would be worth the claim.
Sorry to hear that :( Sounds like a very frustrating situation. We truly hope you're not too set back from this. Sending good vibes your way friend.

No there will still be a legal case. The guy that did the shooting will likely face charges. He didn't engage them in the act nor was his life in danger. He tracked the guy for several miles and engaged him him when there was no immediate danger.

My story is as follows.
I waited over a year to get my jeep.
iIn january Of 2021 I finally took possession of my jeep Rubi.
Only problem was most of the options I ordered were not on the vehicle.
Well I decided to order another one with all the options I wanted.
In March it got stolen.
I got my 2022 in June.
My advice is to get an immobilizer.
I also have a lock on my OBD port.
For added security I have a GPS tracker.
They tried to steal it twice but did not succeed!
Here are picks of my Jeep!
