Thank you! I can use all the good vibes I can get right now! Insurance is taking care of it but it can't help me with the pain of the loss so to speak. I just hope this thread will inspire others to take this stuff seriously and do everything they can to TRY to prevent theirs getting stolen.

I live in the same city as @Steph1 , as a matter of fact, heading to his place to install a start button kill switch this weekend.

Clear up a few things though as we have had a professional crew working the Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal corridor for a while now. We are seeing around 2 or 3 a week get stolen and that's just people reporting in the various Jeep FB groups.

They're not cloning keys. They have the same hardware the dealers have for creating a brand new key. They get the vin. Pop hood and pull horn and head unit fuse. Punch passenger side door lock and remove glove box. Directly attach dealer computer into the STAR rail behind glove box and program a new key. Drive away. In less than 5 minutes.

Then it's quickly sent to the port in Montreal which is well known to be massively corrupt. Off to Africa from there. We have literally seen a "Craigslist-like" website that is selling Jeeps with Canadian plates still on them in Nigeria. As an aside. We are seeing 4xe's get dumped after thefts because (just a theory) there is no charging infrastructure in Africa.

Absolutely at the bare minimum your hood pins should be enable to set the alarm off. Why TF jeep doesnt do this from factory boggles me. The dealer can't even do as far as they can tell. I've literally installed about 10 hood locks (the Bolt hood lock requires a heavy duty riveter I bought) and enabled pins on about 15 local jeeps. We have seen at least 2 instances where the horn going off alone has stopped a theft.

Regardless, I won't leave my jeep anywhere even remotely sketchy overnight. Even after I install the kill switch I won't because before they even realize they can't take the Jeep they've already fucked up your locks, glovebox and erased your keys.

To be honest, I'm quite surprised we haven't seen this in the US yet and truly hope this isn't the beginning of a spree down south. In saying that, maybe Jeep will finally get off their ass and come out with some sort of patch so these losers can't steal them easier than ordering a double double at Tim Hortons.

Do we know where they plug behind the glove box, witch terminal. We probably can do something there to at least slow them down.

My ObdII connector is not where it should be anymore, not impossible to reach but zip-tie higher. then have to find it et break/cut the zip-tie. would like to do something similar with the glovebox.

Pull the glove box, IIRC it's a white bus bar looking thing.

It's only 2 wires to connect to the canbus though. Nothing short of encasing that whole area in a metal box is going to slow them down. I wish they'd rollout that software patch.

I moved my STAR connector to a nearly unreachable spot. Will take them time to find/access it. Also have a locking cover over my OBD port. Among many other deterrents.

I didn't have time to look at mine or the diagram. What I was thinking was to put couple zip-tie and hose clamp over, juste to mess them. They will tool, it will cost them time. Same thing with securing the glove box so it won't open easly.

Does anyone have any schematics of the connections? Can I use any of these to access can bus? I'm just trying to see how I could lock this down.

Edit: So it looks like it would be the high canbus system we would be looking at. I feel like @jmccorm might have some insight of ideas that could help with this

I locked down my hood and then locked down my fuse box lid. I also relocated my OEM OBD 2 port and put a false one in the original slot. My VIN is also covered with black tape. My next step is a fuel pump switch, once I figure out where the fuel pump wires are! My keys are stored in a Faraday box.
I also have an Air Tag and OEM vehicle locator on board. If they get thru all that, they can have it!

Actually it's easier to explain it....I used strapping tape around the entire fuse box and secured it with a lock. Is it tough to get in there and a few cuts on the hands but it was worth it. It is just one deterrent to slow them down. My cameras should alert me by then. The real deal is the false OBD2 port because when the dealer starts to plug into it I have to stop them. I tell them whats going on because they will fry their machine if they plug into the wrong one.
