Jeep Wrangler JL STOLEN!!! I hate thieves! 20230227_133609

I am beyond sad! Ordered this a year ago and now it's gone because some @^#$%! ..... Guys, if you want to keep them, lock them up like fort knox!

It was stolen from parking garage of my apt in Grapevine Tx on 3-24-23 @ 2:15am
Apt manager has video of it leaving the garage. one way in and out with gate that requires fob to enter. thieves don't care about any of that stuff anymore though(look up Flipper device on youtube)

Update: Good news! It's been found!! Bad news,...no one cares :(
as I write this I am looking at the current or at least very recent location of my beautiful 2022 JULRD on the Uconnect app and there is nothing that anyone can do, or will do. I got an email last night from moparvehicleprotection.com that was alerting me to a service requirement, that I had a powertrain malfunction indicator light. I figured that if it was still communicating service issues that it must be able to be tracked, so I call Uconnect theft assistance and informed them. I don't recall her name but she informed me that yes, they had gotten a signal but that it was in an area they couldn't "dispatch" to. So, if anyone is in the area of Monterrey Mexico!......

I feel your pain, someone stole our 2019 back in September last year. Fortunately insurance took care of us and our 2022 is almost back where we had built that one to.

I was watching a video on YouTube a while back about how easy it is to steal a Wrangler. Picking the locks is super cake, actually starting them is a little difficult but so I understand it's still doable.

Did they get your key? Or was your fob somewhere nearby? I removed my battery when I first got mine, and the battery in my spare as well. Now if you want to start my Jeep you need to press the fob into the start button. Really your best bet is installing a hidden fuel pump switch.

@Tredsdert How hard is it to install something like that? Seems like it could be dangerous if you have no idea what you're doing. Just curious.

Sad to hear, just wondering where it taken from. IF down in Terlingua, then my bet is it already crossed the border. If Grapevine then I really saddened, I lived in Colleyville and did not even lock the doors, I hope Grapevine-Colleyville are still that way.

In the old days it was simple for us Corvette guys. Take the ignition switch wire and insert a push button on/off switch. Put it in the drives side upper corner of the hood next to the hood latch. On the Corvette you could push down on the corner and it give a on/off connection. You could also on other cars do same by a push button just under the dash or to the left of the steering wheel.

I am sure there are things that one can do today that accomplishes the same thing...

On my 2022 Challenger ScatPack I installed an ignition kill switch. I used the power wire to the push to start . Pulled the dash trim off and accessed the power wire then hid the switch where it would take some time to find it - time they wouldn't want to spend most likely. Once the kill switch was engaged the power to the push to start was disabled. Flip the switch the other way - push to start was enabled.

Just search YOUTUBE.

You could do the same for the fuel pump as well or pull the fuel pump relay if you are in a sketchy area.

The ignition kill switch seems a much better and safer option then the fuel line. But I guess they could still use the remote start with a fob if they had it cloned?

My daughter put a kill switch in her 4Runner. It's in a place you would never to think to look but easy enough for her to access to start it when she returns to the vehicle. We live in Albuquerque so a kill switch is vital to you to keep your vehicle from being stolen.

I've actually never done it myself, but something I do plan on doing at some point. Honestly I don't see any way this could screw up your engine. I mean even if you started it and didn't like the way it ended up, you can always reverse it.

I used to have zero experience with electrical work, now I have a pretty decent general understanding of electrical work. I've done a fair amount on my Wrangler so far. You got to start somewhere!

Here's the video which gave me the idea couple years ago.

It's not specifically a Wrangler in the video, but it does apply to any vehicle. Really all you're doing is cutting power to the fuel pump with a flick of a switch.

Nope, vehicle can't be started unless the hiden switch is on the on position. whether it be with a remote or even through satelite. Switch off = Jeep dead.

EDIT: Vinking Jeeper had me realize that the Jeep can be remote started, however I foumd that it cannot be shifted out of park.

Installed it on mine most likely using the link mentionned above.

So I got :

- Enabled hood alarm with Jscan
- Hood lock
- Covered windshield VIN with a decal
- Ripped-off frame VIN decal
- Steering wheel blocker bar
- Ingition kill switch
- Apple Air pod

Whoever steal's it, almost won it.
