Line-x is textured. I believe they have a newer product available now that has a finer grit that may be less noticeable.

LineX is a brand of bedliner and has to be installed at their facility/dealer, of which there are many. It is textured and is extremely durable. It is basically what truck beds are lined with. If you don't hit the rail on a rock, it will be nearly impossible to damage. I had my rear bumper coated after the powdercoat failed, best decision ever, the stuff is indestructible.

Line-X is the way I went. They do have the Line X Ultra option which is lighter and thinner. I have the regular Line-X spray on mine. The discoloration seen on top of the steps is just water. Pic was taken after a wash.

I have yet to experience any rust on ours :fingerscrossed:
I am very anal about keeping the steps and all other black panels/wheels clean as they are the first to show dirt. I typically spray them with a satin tire shine when I'm doing the tires/bumpers/underpanels, so I'm not sure if the grease is what's helping keep away the rust(unless you just happened to get a bad batch from powdercoat.) My wife and 4 boys use the steps on hers more than 2x a day and they still look like new.

I typically like to purchase my bumpers/sliders raw and then coat them with a 2 part spray on bedliner. If properly prepped that stuff is VERY durable.

I took my roam steps off last weekend to change out the logo plate and noticed I also have rust on the underside. Disappointing! @ROAM care to comment?

I'll have to look into the Line-X. What should I expect to pay to have this done?

It will be a few hundred $$$ just go to Home Depot and get some Truck Bed coating and do a quick test match to see how close it is - and use that to touch up or to fully re-coat the steps - use cardboard as a mask-off, or remove them if it's easier to paint that way.

It depends on where you are. The basic coating should run about $150-175, which should include prep (sanding, etc.). To color match, add about $200.

Has anyone been in contact with Anthony lately? I sent an email to him on Sunday and yesterday with no response. I know he is busy and I like to support small business, but I have not had any contact with him since 1/28, when he said the steps should ship within 2-3 weeks. If the steps did not ship within the time frame he provided, I would at least like to be informed.

TIA,

Bill

He told me a month ago he'd send me an invoice for slider/steps and never did. I gave up and went with another option

My Roam steps are rusting badly. I sent an email asking if there was anything they could do. No response! I would go another direction if it's possible.

I heard from him on 2/26 about picking up my frame mounted rails around the middle of March.

I placed my preorder for the frame mounted slider steps on the first week of November. Since then, it's been one delay after another.

A couple of days ago, Anthony got back to me and noted that they will start shipping between the 12th to the 14th of March, now.

I paid for a set on 1/24. I asked for an update on 2/21 and promptly received a reply that the ship date was delayed until around March 12th. I'm definately feeling a little weary with the delays and reports of rusting.

The delays could be for them to fix the "rusting" issue and to get their build process inplace. I think they were a smaller shop that has gotten overwhelmed and is doing what they need to deliver good quality products.
