I would be happy with a nice stiff plastic or fiberglass doors and hood. It makes more sense.
Buy some tube doors and some Lexan (polycarbonate) sheet and screw some to the tubes. See through for that open feel and still some splash protection.

The paint bubbling definitely has me a little spooked. If mine bubbles under warranty and a dealer will fix it correctly, great I'll keep it. If its out of warranty or I can't find a dealer that will fix it, I will more than likely sell it. I really hope the paint gremlins pass me by. 🤞

Best of luck to everyone, may the paint gremlins pass by you as well.

What year did they paint under the hinges, and put zinc shims under the hinges?

I'm not sure, I think it was 2024, mine is 2023.
Then get proactive. Remove the hinges, paint under, and shim them. You will be much much happier.

From what I understand about this issue - Jeep decided to use aluminum for the door panels, and then went with steel hinges. Apparently, they never thought to put a barrier between the 2 unlike metals and voila - a galvanic cell. The problem isn't going to stop on its own - you will need to get the problem corrected and then modify a permanent fix or else it will start all over again. I just got my 2018 JLU back from the dealership. They were well aware of the problem and told me that I was covered for 5 years and unlimited mileage under corrosion protection. This issue is going to cost Chrysler (Stellantis) a small fortune in warranty repair costs. Go to your dealers guys - this should be covered! Good luck.
If only this was the only cause of the Bubbling of the paint, it would be an easy fix for everyone. Unfortunately, when manufactured, the paint and prep area wasn't the cleanest, and there was contamination. From what I've read, this contamination(possibly iron dust), settled on the aluminum door panels, and aluminum hood. This accounts for those spots in the middle of the doors and hood.

My theory is too many dips in the prep tank without changing the prep solution. If your parts were run when the prep dip tank had just been replenished, you are golden. Just before the tank was changed, but after it really should have been changed and you are in the danger zone.

Pretty sure there was a guy who spent most of the week doing the cost balance analysis of changing the prep solution more often or doing warranty paint repairs. Probably another guy did the sales loss analysis for how many vehicles equaled a certain amount of bad press and sales loss. My father-in-law did that kind of number crunching for an advertising agency. They paid him as much as a physician was making back then.

I did that. Replaced all my hinges, and sealed the raw aluminum.
Which hinges did you replace them with? What did you seal the raw aluminum with?

I used 74Weld for the door hinges, royal hooks for the hood, and teraflex tailgate reinforcement on the rear. I used POR15, but I wish I had used Eastwood 2k epoxy instead. I think that would have been a better choice. It’s been 2.5 years and no issues with the POR15. I also put a thin 3M automotive gasket between the hinges and the body, just to get a good seal. I just got a 8x10 sheet and cut out a template. Here is what my hood hinges look like. I did upgrade the hardware to black on the hood hinges, and used a 2k epoxy on the door hinges to make them black as well

They know, they changed the procedure for fixing them as well. Unfortunately individual dealers and body shops dont always follow what FCA has to say. Im looking at losing my jeep for like 10 weeks due to the backlog.

They were well aware of the problem before this thread. It’s a numbers game for them. I’m on the waiting list to have hood, windshield frame, all 4 doors, and tailgate replaced on my 21.

500 out of 100,000 members here. Most of the people very interested in the subject are those with corrosion problems
