My hinges are in good shape but noticed a few bubbles on the seam of the hood on the driver side below the Rubicon sticker.
Went to the local dealership to get an oil change and get this noted.
They said they had over a year long waiting list with corrosion jobs and I should try and contact the dealership I bought the Jeep from.
Built 3/22.
Just a few small bubbles now but the writing is on the wall for it to get worse and other places probably.
I’ll contact the other dealership soon and see what they say.
Jeep is 💩

500 out of 100,000 members here. Most of the people very interested in the subject are those with corrosion problems
And it’s just a matter of time for those that think they got lucky.
Look closely after 3 years and I bet you find some bubbles somewhere.

I agree. It seems inevitable. I’d guess a lot of people with a 3+ year old JL that say they don’t have any corrosion haven’t checked the seams on the inside of their doors.

October built 2021, just saw 2 inch long bubbling on the front part of the side edge of the hood, driver side, I'm pretending not to see it for the time being.

Edited, added pics

That’s the same spot I first noticed on my May 21 built 4xe. Good luck

2023 JLU bought used last month, build date 1/2023. Mine came from the factory with the zinc shims on the hinges.

just spotted some bubbling on the bottom edge of the right passenger door while hand drying after a wash. Took it to the closest dealer, who estimated the cost for just the bubbling fix—but told me I needed two estimates to submit with the claim and referred me to a second dealer.

Went to that second dealer who insisted they fully inspect it before writing an estimate. Lo and behold they found corrosion on edges of all four doors and the hood, all requiring replacement under the TSB. Waiting to hear if FCA will approve the claim, but the body shop says they do a ton of these and knows what the threshold for approval is.

According to the lead tech, mine is about the newest vehicle to show these issues. Time will tell the full story, but found it interesting she was already willing to stake a claim the 2024-2025s don’t have the issue.

They also said they’d provide me a loaner. It’s crazy to hear some of you can’t get one. Dealership told me if they had no loaners at the dealer they’d contract with enterprise to give me one—it just has to be an FCA vehicle for FCA to pay for it. Pacifica anyone?

Yours is one of the newer ones to show up. Any pics?? I guess the Zinc Shims don't help with the edges of the doors.

here’s the bubbling I saw that prompted me to go in. No pics of the other corrosion the dealer found—I didn’t see it on the vehicle and they didn’t share the pics they took.

The shims were knee jerk. Its not galvanic corrosion. Its shitty prep and water ingress.
I bet there are 24s that have it.

Give it time that’s only a year ago.
Stellantis sucks and def poor prep.
I’m hopeful I only have to deal with the hood but probably tapping out and trading in before the end of the year.
Glad I backed away from the 392s.
Imagine spending $100k and seeing the bubbles appearing.

I have bubbles on the edges of the hood, on the rear passenger door (near the hinges), as well as a couple of bubbles on some of the hinges. I just noticed them after 3 years of ownership. My car is white.

Also worth noting that I brought the car into the dealer to see if this would be covered under warranty and Jeep did approve for these issues to be fixed at a body shop.
How many miles did you have on it? How old was it? Did it have an extended warranty?? Where, and which dealership?

Claim was approved by FCA on Wednesday. Dealer body shop says the estimate was for a $14,000 repair!

Does anyone know whether FCA will let the owner keep replaced doors? I might try to convert my slowly corroding original doors into half doors. Sure they may corrode but $0 is a lot better than $3700...

They generally do not allow you to keep them.

Try talking to the body shop that will be doing the repairs. Much of the time they just toss the parts in a bin, for scrap metal.

@JeepCares I customer ordered my 2018 JL Wrangler Sport in the fall of 2017. Last year the paint on both lower door hinges started flaking off and this year I noticed paint bubbling and cracking. I waited 15 years to buy that Jeep and, after this experience, I doubt I'll buy another one, unless Jeep steps up and makes this right. I got a quote for over $6000 to fix both doors and blend in the paint color to the side panels but I should have to do this on a vehicle I purchased (ordered!) new. I could drive around with a Jeep missing paint on the doors and let that reflect back on Jeep but it's becoming embarrassing. What do I do?
