Tried the configurator for a 2 door XR on the Jeep.com site and it required a manual with a 3.6L when 4.56 was selected. But, when I selected 4.88, it let me select 3.6L and auto trans.
I just tried on rubicon and rubicon x it will not let me select 6 cylinder auto no matter what I do with gears. When I change the gears it flips it back to manual tranny.

any advice on what you did. I am going to call the sales guy shortly and see if they can force anything on their end.

If the most action it's going to see is the mall and a dirt/gravel road or two every few weeks, just do yourself a favor and get a 4runner. If you want something a little more fun that you can beat up and take off road, get you with TJ!

There's a 50% chance you will hate your JL as it sits in the dealership lot waiting to get fixed for 6 months out of the year for the first 3 years before you trade it in under the lemon law in your state.

After you get your 4Runner or your TJ, wait a little bit, a few years, and if the brand rebounds, then get you like a 2028 or something!

You'll be doing yourself a favor! Don't buy a JL right now!

As one of the lucky individuals who is on the zero problems side of the 50%, I'm not dumb enough to buy another JL anytime soon! Disgruntled Union employees, disgruntled dealerships, a new CEO that's promising change but hasn't achieved it yet, you're looking for problems!

You don't got to like it, but it's the truth!
Is it really that bad? This seems a bit extreme. Can anyone else verify JL is total junk or not?

Try reversing the order of what you select. I think I selected the 4.88s then the trans?

Buy the Jeep enjoy yourself.

My 2021 Jeep that has only seen oil changes and the dealership has been just like every other dealership I've been to in my life.
This pos(er)t obviously hates union members and has loaded his Jeep full of Chinese knockoffs from Amazon.
His "Jeep" is more Amazon than Jeep.

That said, if you are absolutely set on a manual, get what makes you smile.
Hopefully @jdru66 test drives a manual and an automatic back to back. I stupidly bought the manual w/o knowing how much better the automatic was. I had that old-school mindset that a manual would always be more responsive and better all around (at least for those like myself that have always loved rowing through gears). I was wrong.

The builder on jeep.com continues to be notoriously wrong. Do not trust the options presented. Your sales person's system is significantly more up to date / correct.

I thought you'd support those Chinese kids building those parts. They're definitely not union members!

I did this morning. Took out manual then an automatic and said hmm i think automatic is better. My issue is the sales guy says stellantis is blocking you form ordering a 6 cylinder with an automatic or my order would have been sent in. As it sits right now I am wondering if i just go forwards with the stick or wait it out until you can get an automatic 6 cylinder. i really have no interest in the 2.0 turbo.

No your'e wrong ..my Dad was a Union longshoreman and I from twenty three years of age was/am union.
Retired at 55 from my union gig...now I drink coffee in my PJ's or visit the grandkids at little league.
My off roading is the gravel at their ball fields parking lots, so I kick it into 4 auto ...just in case. 🍵🗽😊
I buy from Amazon as a last resort these days.
My Dad had a sticker on his old Chrysler New Yorker(440) that said I.L.A (International Longeshoremans Association) stands for.... I. LOVE. AMERICA. 🗽

You do realize everyone's JL is more Chinese than American right?

Let's see how many OEM parts of the Wrangler you can name which are manufactured in the United States?

I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT ASSEMBLED, I'M TALKING ABOUT MANUFACTURED! And while you're at it, you might as well show some proof as to why you think it's manufactured in the United States?

I understand @Wbino you beef with pretty much everyone on here, but are you really going to recommend to a new purchaser a vehicle whose quality has been questionable for the last few years, has had a massive decline in sales, including disgruntled employees that piece together your vehicle, and then tell them you think it's a good idea to buy this on a decline?

I'd love to see you put your money where your mouth is. You got a good functioning Jeep right? Go trade it in or buy another one! Or are you too afraid to roll the dice?

Where are you getting that information? According to my window sticker over 80% of mine was made in North America. That explicitly excludes final assembly, distribution, and other non-parts costs.

Was the 6/auto available on 24’s ? There might be an acceptable one available if so, inventory can be searched. Your chosen dealer might even be able to get it from the other dealer. My 05 4R was a dealer transfer as were both my 73 and 07 HD’s , intrastate, interstate dunno.

My 2024 Willys was great, problem free until I turned it into a pretzel and I've only had my 2024 Rubicon for about a month, but so far no issues and I love it. The 2024s are by far the best version out of the 6 Wranglers I've had. So yeah I'd definitely recommend buying now.
