I have had a JL with and without the hardtop headliner and didn't notice any difference. The same with the premium sound. Yes, blind spot is a MUST HAVE in a Wrangler. As I mentioned above, if you want an automatic transmission, the only way you can get that in the Rubicon X is if you get the Xtreme 35" tire option which pushes the price to almost $60K. A lot of $$ but a pretty sweet ride.

Thanks I want a manual transmission. I’m still leaning towards the X. I’m not opposed to 35s just overkill for my use.

That picture is one super cool ride.

Be sure to read the threads about the JL manual transmission before checking that box. ;)

The one thing I don't regret is buying the Rubicon, even though I never had intentions of rock crawling. 4 years later, I decided the Rubicon Trail and Dusy-Ershim were going on my bucket list. So, I build up the Jeep for these trails and start "practicing" locally on Gold Mountain, John Bull, and Holcomb Creek. Having the D44 axles with lockers and the 4:1 transfer case was a great start on getting the rig ready to go. But, even some "easy" club runs have run into sections of challenging obstacles where a stock Rubicon can handle but a less equipped Jeep will have great difficulty. If it's not a financial hardship, I would say to go with a Rubicon with the X package with 35s.
With a Jeep, it lures you in slowly. Roll with it.

Once you are set on the Rubicon X, you have to ask yourself if it is work the extra $$ for the painted fenders/top and leather seats since this will have the same axles, gear ratio, tire size, and engine as the Rubicon X for $8K less:

Hmmm- $5K according to his $3K upholstery, dash, (grille?) estimate….. Front locker, 4-1, sway bar release value makes the gingerbread pretty cheap.

but I always tend to justify snowballing to the top price point. šŸ™„ I’m good at it

No it makes no financial sense other than saving me time swapping seats and the dash out.

I found painted flares 2600
Grille 600
And dash panels 250

for less than half the cost of the package difference I can get the willys where I want it. It’s just the time taking it here and there I do not have / don’t look forward to arguing with the wife about dropping my new toy off when the kids have 40,000 activities.

oh man I’ll search on those today. Are they junk? Being able to get a manual is a huge selling factor. Only Jeep is really left. It’s that or a mustang or bronco 4 banger. Both of those other two options are 🤮

Resell value would be a factor but for his use case those other things would probably go unused or be overkill. Since taxes and sometimes registration are based on sale price, I tend to lean toward if you aren't going to use the option, don't add it. It would also suck to get a bad sensor error message in a few years for a font locker that isn't even used.

Hi any advice would be appreciated. I am getting back in the Jeep game after awhile out. This will be a toy that I can get my kids in. My desire of wanting a 2 door jl is I loved my several YJ and TJ jeeps I had and this will allow me a summer toy to take my boys along in.

I’m between willys and rubicon. The rubicon is overkill from an off road use perspective but I want leather seats.

This leaves me with going willys and having katzkan done as I don’t like the perforated option. I also would want to change out the inside grey dash (looks like a pita) and the black front grille.

or go rubicon and spend the extra $ but get the leather seats, inside dash and front grille I like and not have to spend time after I get it messing around.

has anyone done katzkan or changed out the inside grey dash that can offer thoughts on how painful those two are?

On one hand Willys helps the pocketbook on the other hand I could go rubicon or rubicon x and just get it all and be done.
My neighbor has a Wills and is spending a small fortune to get it to be like my 2024 Rubicon X. What came on my Rubicon X is under warranty through the Jeep.... his "ad-ons" are not.

Maybe somebody else can answer this, but when the paint gets dinged on those flares, does black plastic show through? I've always had black unpainted flares. Your rear ones WILL get chewed up, so i would want to know how bad it looks before dropping extra $ on them.

For those that go with painted, you should just go right to a film protection on all 4 fenders before you off-road. The fenders really take abuse on the trails. For my nickel, I prefer the black plastic. Scratches and scuffs don't show as much.

It may be worth looking nationally for a leftover '24 that fits the description. No doubt you'll also get a decent deal on a new one if you do your homework, but Jeep dealers are desperate. To still have handfuls of Rubicons sitting around from last year...they are motivated to make them go away!

Also, with the current uncertainty around tariffs and looming dates, I personally wouldn't want to be on the hook for a vehicle order. At the very least, get a guarantee on the price..
