RC is definitely the best bang for the buck rear diff skid.
Have any of you changed the diff fluid with this on yet or did you take it off? I installed one tonight and the drain plug looks a little tricky to get to. Not impossible but not like it was.

Yikes. That’s even thinner in your photos than I anticipated it would be based on AEV’s promo data. No way I’d trust that but please keep us up to date.
just got back from Moab and 4 of us had the AEV skid and i never touched mine but others did and 100% solid.

Any pictures? Considering this for the rear diff on my JT and curious what the hits look like.

Was it ever confirmed if this is like the ZR2 skid that’s hot boron stamped or just your run of the mill stamped steel? There’s a pretty decent difference in strength between the two.
I smacked the hell out of my front Rancho skid during EJS this year and it held up like nothing happened (apart from paint scrapes anyway). My rear didn’t get scraped at all but my new issue is it’s deflecting into my fuel tank skid causing interference. Still on the fence if I’m gonna ditch it or just cut off the chunk in the way.

they did not dent or bend only paint scuffs. there really is no way they can dent as they fit so tight to the bottom. I did not get photos but at some point when we get together again I will try and remember, but they impressed.

they are not boron steel. I did confirm that with AEV..they told me testing did not warrant boron.

I must be the outlier. I have AEV diff covers and both Next Venture diff skids were literally bolt-on mods.
Hi Thats good to hear. I have the NV skid and have not installed it but wanted to buy the AEV diff cover. I was thinking I need to get the AEV skid to fit there cover? The AEV skid does look more lower profile? The NV looks stronger. Not doing any hard core rock crawling though, Love AEV stuff though.

I had a shop install the NVM skid on the rear with the AEV diff cover. It took lots of grinding to make it fit.

Thanks for letting me know. I wonder why the other person I replied didn't have an issue. Maybe later axles or sliders are a little different? Also, did you buy the extra spacer when you did the install?

No, I wasn't aware of an extra spacer. NVM didn't mention one either. Maybe that's new?

My Next Venture rear diff skid did require grinding, but only at the point closest to the eTorque battery (which I think might be further rearward on the 2-door). I was also stock height at the time and fully flexing to check fitment. Grinding was minor, really just making a weld flush.

FWIW: I have the OEM cover & spacer shown above.

They made these front and rear spacers now for clearance. Would that have helped you think for the issue that you had?

The Next Venture skids are designed for their diff cover and any other similar aftermarket diff covers with the thicker mounting flange, like Motobilt etc. The spacer is designed to compensate for the thin mounting flange on the OEM skids.

Most of you are probably talking Rubicon. For us sport people I found the options for the front diff. Skid plates are about non existent.

I have pretty much decided to just go with new better diff. Covers. It will probably help the structural integrity of the D30 anyway.
