Looks like the MSRP of a Mopar LED tail light is $1,100 each; you can get them for $750 a pop. That is $1,500 to $2,200 in parts, depending if you pay full price or not. See below

It takes literally 10 minutes to swap a tail light.

If the dealer is quoting $1,500 in parts, then $1,000 for 20 minutes of labor seems excessive.

If the dealer is quoting $2,200 in parts + $300 in labor, then the dealer is still being excessive.

The bigger story here is that CDJR dealers, Jeep and Stellantis have very little credibility left with customers. And I share that feeling with the OP.

My current 2023 Gladiator is very likely the last vehicle I ever buy from Stellantis.

This is the problem right here.....This is insane. Last time I went to the dealer they wanted 180 for an oil change, 110 for a cabin air filter, 450 to 600 to do spark plugs. You really have to be able to do some of these things yourself or you are going to get hosed.

I understand what the OP is saying.

Some strange things have been happening in the last few years with Jeeps. The prices have been increasing steadily. At the same time, units have been leaving the factories with significant quality control issues. Right now, the Jeep brand is in trouble.

I would not expect to pay 50,000 or more for a brand new vehicle and have the kinds of quality issues that I have been reading about. If Ford and Toyota are having the same issues with quality then shame on them also.

The UAW has a lot to say about wages and benefits for workers. I would also want to hear them talk about improving the quality of the products the workers make.

LED built into the fixture? I'm trying to understand something as the owner of a 2024 Wrangler Willys 2-Dr. Is the dealer saying that the rear tail light bulbs for your 2021 Rubicon aren't replaceable? According to Mopar, for the 2021 Rubicon, they sell parking lamp bulbs, side marker bulbs, park and turn bulbs, and rear tail lamp bulbs. Prices range from $7.48 to $16.41 on the Mopar web site. They also have tail light assemblies and diagrams of internal parts (wiring, bulbs, etc.) as well. I don't see any prices on the Mopar site with any prices like the $2,500.71 the dealer is talking about.

Those aren't LED's. OP has the LED tail lights and the dealer is correct you can't just replace a bulb you have to replace the entire unit but the price they quoted is extremely high compared to what you can purchase on your own.

Many people will never be able to change anything on their vehicle themselves.

I grew up watching mechanics take advantage of my parents when they had issues with their cars. Neither one could tell a spanner from a socket.

This reminds me, I have a set of OEM LED tail lights in the garage I need to sell for $500 a pop.
