Well this week we took on some more trails, and once again this Jeep decided it did not want to play. After an hour of running tralis the Jeep decided it would not allow the Sway Bar to be disconnect or allow the Locking Diffs to work. Then when we stopped for a short break, the same thing happen again, Jeep would not start to much heat under the hood i think. The fake vents on the hood need to be real vents to get the heat out form under the hood. It was funny as I ran across a FCA test engineer in a JL testing here in Colorado at the bottom of the trail and told him about the issues we were seeing in our Jeep, but i pretty sure that fell on deaf ears. So for now when anyone asks how i like the new JL i tell them not to buy one, they have to many problems to work out. It would be nice to have a dealership who know how to fix these problem, But all i seem to hear is "It's a Jeep Thing or can not reproduce the problem. If I had it to due all over, I would never buy another Jeep due to FCA lack of support or being able to fix their problems.

Zero issue with my Rubicon. Everything works GREAT.

What tires are you running what mods have you done, Have you touches the suspension at all.

I have heard on hear lots of issues but once you dig into it bad mods and DIY changes have destroyed lots of Great JEEPS.

Not saying you have done anything wrong.

I have seen everything from dirty air filters to I didn't hit that rock that hard.

I will say this again MODS are GREAT, BUT what's your warranty worth!!! !!!

wish i could say the same, have you taken your off road yet, that when the heat builds up under the hood and things start shutting down. This is not about MOD's of which i have a Mopar 2" lift kit and 35" tires both of which Mopar states the Jeep is ready for.

I haven't taken it off road, I have zero Mods on the Rubicon. I have only done a 500 mile ride pulling a 2K trailer and no issues. I have tested all the functions lockers and disconnects all works as stated.

Again I am not saying you did anything wrong at all.

We are 4 wheeling up around 10,000 to 13,000 feet in steep rocky trails, the jeep does really well as far as clawing up and over the rocks which in many cases are pretty large 2ft and of course the large holes on the other side of the boulder. I'm impress with the jeep for what it shows it can do, its just no help when in the middle of a 35+ deg climb threw a rock garden and the Lockers and the Swaybar disconnect stop working.

I worked on an (un-named vehicle) that would not restart after a shut down when hot....but mostly only dark blue or black ones. The light colored ones were much better. The problem was the electric throttle that slams shut as you turn off the engine. During the coast down to "stop", the engine was pulling against a closed throttle and so it sucked burned exhaust back from the tailpipe. On a hot restart, the ECU only fires a shot or two of injector and then waits for RPM to increase before initializing regular injection (often a target of about 140-150 RPM). With no oxygen in the intake manifold and cylinders, the first shots of fuel would not burn. The ECM then prevented any additional fuel injection because it assumed there is a problem. If you let it sit a half hour or so, until the engine cooled a little, it would again try fuel injection and the start-up was normal.

The dark colored cars stayed hot under the hood, longer than the light colors. I spent my whole life in the industry and it was the first time I EVER saw the color of the car keep it from starting!

A small software change took care of the problem. It was a pretty funny experience, all things considered.

Mine is a software issue as the engine does not turn over at all, you press the start button and nothing happens. If you push the start button many times you will get an error message about waiting 30 seconds at which time it starts a count down counter. After you wait the 30 second same problem nothing. So if you disconnect the battery and wait a couple of minutes (resetting the CPU's) The Jeep will start just like nothing was wrong. So that tells me the software is reading an invalid status from a senor when the engine bay is hot. By resetting the CPU's that invalid status goes away and the jeep will start. Some people have just waited a 1/2 to 1 hr to let the jeep cool down to get it to restart, others have had the jeep tow to the dealership to have it work normal by the time it get to the dealer (IE it cooled down). This last go around the senor that is for 4L stop working, so the jeep software says if the senor is not there it must not be in 4L so shut off all option that only work in 4L, IE Sway bar disconnect and Lockers and cluster indicators.

Called Jeep and they gave us a case # and said someone would call, but they were more concerned will the open Recall for cruise control. No one has called back.
