You ordered the tailgate reinforcement system from there? I saw it on that site but thought it was too good to be true. I never heard of the site and thought it could be a scam or something.....maybe just being overly cautious. It came with all the parts and original packaging and everything?

Thanks
Steve
Hey Steve,

Yup...came w/everything. No issues.

I got both the Mopar reinforcement bracket (82215356AB $450) and the oversize tire carrier (82215355 $220) and it does not fit my BF Goodrich KM3 37" tires even though it's advertised to hold up to 37" tires. This system does not lift the carrier up and so my spare is sitting on the bumper and i cannot close my tailgate door.

Had to order in addition to already paying $670, the RC Relocation bracket ($80) to raise the tire carrier up by 2 inches. I also had to purchase the brake light relocation bracket as well (82215349 $80).

In total it costs $830 just to carry a spare.

Can't wait until AEV comes out with a new bumper/tire carrier that takes it off the tailgate entirely (assuming they do a similar set up that they did for the JK)

I dunno, the reinforcement thing from MOPAR seems to...strengthen something they made weaker/lighter but didn't really have to...aside from charging more to have "peace of mind" for those that want it. Seems to be pretty pricey for just that, imo....I'm still not sold on it.

So I sit here in agony while I play the waiting game and await the product announcements for the JL that AEV will, at some point, come out with . :( Hahaha

I bought those 2 mopar parts as well. Now I'm thinking if 35x12.5x18 will fit. Your running 37s, is with 18 or 17 wheels??

So here's my question, What's the difference with a 97lb 37" tire VS a 89lb 39" tire on the carrier? MOPAR says the largest tire is a 37 but that isn't a weight. What's the comparison in harm?
The CHMSL will only go up far enough for a 37. After that you need a different set up would be my guess.

Its a 35in tire. Plenty of room for a bigger tire though. Using it with the reinforcement kit, you get an additional half inch of distance out, on top of the 1in you get from the bracket alone.
I am however having to find aftermarket bump stops, because the stock ones no longer reach the tire. A 37 may not have the same issue. That being said I haven't had any issues with vibrations, even without the bump stops.

Insert a length of PVC pipe into the rubber bumper with a 1/14 chair leg rubber on the tire side works great! You are taking a big risk and its only a matter of time before damage occurs.

I ordered my jl jlur with the reinforced gate. Do I need one of the other two parts mentioned in this discussion to fit the 35" tako2 tires on factory wheels I already bought? Steel bumper if it matters.

Bumping this to see if anyone has figure out exactly what can be accommodated - I have a 35" tire going on a wheel with 4.75" BS, I got the Mopar reinforcement kit but do I need the oversize carrier/relocater as well?

I have the reinforcement bracket without relocation bracket and my 315 (“35 inch”) spare clears fine. You don’t need the relocation bracket to clear your bumper.

However, my backup sensors go nuts, so I’m going to add a relocation kit of some sort. I had the Go Rhino, but it lifted my spare up too high and too far out. I’ve got the Ace kit I’m going to try soon to see if that doesn’t move the tire too high and still makes my sensors sane.

Awesome, that's just what I needed to know! The Mopar reinforcement is just a temporary solution for now so I can at least get the wheel mounted. I'm following the aftermarket progress for a carrier that I want to pull the trigger on - there doesn't seem to be a ton of options out there right now so I'm kind of playing the waiting game. I was hoping I didn't have to invest more money into a temporary solution, so thanks again!

I have had the Mopar tailgate reinforcement bracket (& RC relocation bracket)on since Feb with a 37” BFG . Was on the Rubicon trail this year and have been to Pismo Beach Dunes multiple times. No issues for me so far. Also, no rattles or pops.

Good to hear they are holding up. I thought it might be a cheesy bandaid for a weak tailgate so I originally was going to a bumper with a tire carrier. Rethinking it now. What is the bracket made out of? Alum or steel??

You will be fine without the relocation kit. Here is a pic of 35's on the Quadratech Rubicon Extremes with 4.5" backspacing. If you have the steel bumper a 35 will be touching it but with the plastic bumper nearly 1/2" space between tire and bumper.
