Just to remind all the 2.0t haters what's possible with just a JB4 piggy back controller. 445ftlbs and 321hp to the wheels on pump gas. Add water/meth injection and it's 469ftlbs and 333hp. That "weak" little motor can put out more torque than the 392 with a little extra boost.

FWIW: Livernois has a 50HP e85 tune for the 3.6. Impressive numbers for N/A.

Unfortunately the 2022 JLUR and 2023 JT are GPEC5 pcms so I'm stuck with low output stock 3.6Ls.

That was another good thing when I ordered my first 2024 I didn't even know about the difference in the computers and when I bought the 2021 instead it was a pleasant surprise. At least I can have my shit tuned.

In 2019 I test drove both. 4 cyl turbo def had a little more pep. But I didn’t trust an Italian turbo over the V6 that had millions of test miles on it already. Also, couldn’t get a manual transmission with the turbo. So that was a deal-breaker. Love my Pentastar V6. I’ve got 80K miles…never put a wrench to it. Just gas, oil, wipers, and tires.

Not sure if it was mentioned in the prior 60 odd pages. Wondering if they’re stockpiling the 3.6 for the upcoming battery /hybrid Ram that’s coming. I do remember reading that drivetrain being based off the 3.6.

Oh come on. Haven't you read the endless threads where people swear the drop in power at altitude isn't noticeable in their naturally aspirated Jeeps?

Lol I moved from Calgary Alberta (3500 ft) to Vancouver (0ft) and my jeep has discovered 8th gear! So much more lively down here. And I'm getting the same economy with 2.5" lift and 34s and I do stock with 32" (23 Willys). If you live up high get the turbo.

So the herd (thats us) get to have a 4 cylinder turbo'd engine that will have a short life if really used to tow-haul a load in hot weather for distance, uphill. Or heavy bed load. Or really work hard in some outstanding and difficult off road ventures. Not right away for most operators but it's smart of Stellantis to sell early life disposable engines for replacements to keep the cash flowing. There way.

Technology is great. But complexity and durability do not always go hand in hand. Unless a lot more money is put in the pot.

That (my opinion) said, we all know the Chrysler developed Pentastar sometimes suffer from soft cams. By and large, the Pentastar has been a very good engine for most of us. For a ton of easy or hard miles in most cases. Yes of course its not the perfect match for some but its a pretty decent Swiss army knife for most of the ahh, herd. Even if one of these fail that isn't a total castrophy of the block, these V6, normally aspirated engines are going to be far less expensive to do repairs than on a melt down of the turbo'd four.

The return of the diesel won't happen. It's a tough nut to utilize in a production vehicle for emissions control in particular. And then it would be nice if it was an American made power plant. But that ship has sailed unfortunately.

I hope that my thoughts on the turbo'd four banger are proven to be wrong. If the Wrangler or Gladiators are mostly pavement used without the mountains and heavy towing use, I imagine these engines will do ok. Maybe add some sound deadening underwood to quell some of the higher RPM noise but otherwise, they do provide some stunning power. Hope I am wrong and those that get these mini engines do well for years and lots of miles. Time will tell.

There's a handful of people here that swear it's not noticeable.

Some of them also seem to think that getting less from more is equivalent to getting more from less. Yeah, it's challenging getting through to people like that, but we try.
