Anyone try this with a light the size of the Baja Designs Squadron? How's the clearance?

I'm looking at eventually swapping my front bumper for one that doesn't have fog light cutouts, and mounting the lights on top of the new bumper would be too high to be useful or street legal fog lights. I would have to measure, but I am pretty sure the knuckle location would be within the legal height requirements.

Also, anyone have issues with their wiring at full flex? Seems like that could also be a challenge.

I run squadrons on mine. I do have a different knuckle setup but the JL's have pretty good clearance. The wires for them run up with the ABS leads and have not been an issue.

Awesome! I'll probably give this a shot when it comes time to swap bumpers.

Do you only run the Squadrons off-road? I didn't think about it before, but I'm curious how bad the light vibration might be on the highway, as none of the bumps are dampened by the suspension.

I run Pros so they are a bit bright to oncoming traffic. I can dim them down with the switch and have used them as my fogs. They work well. Never noticed a vibration issue and have had them on it for about 3 years.

I did get some gatekeeper brackets and mounted some Diode Dynamics C2. I run 4.75” backspace wheels, Oem stubby, and like 2-3” lift.
Much of the light was blocked if the wheels are turned at all.
Also, after a pretty hairy wheeling trip to Rodriguez/Oriflamme Canyon, one of the brackets looked a little bent so I think it was getting into the coil spring. I didn’t see any wear so I didn’t think it was in the tire. But I’m not sure.
I think I might try a smaller light, though to be honest I wasn’t impressed by the amount of light I got. I really wanted them to be another pair of steerable headlights.

I have the same bumper, backspacing, and lift height currently, but was planning on a frame chop when I swap the bumper and give these brackets a shot.

Think that will help with having more usable light? Not sure much can be done about the tires obstructing the view.

The lights could even be mounted on the tie rod using the correct clamps, I think stock is 1 5/8
This is the method that I had used on my other 392 and just ran the wires alongside the brake lines, it does give you more steerable lighting. Some say that they will get destroyed mounting them in that location, if your smart about it and think about it just consider how many things have to be damaged before it reaches the lights

Face the lights in so that they are slightly crossed. It helps a lot.

With my height and OEM stubby the bumper blocks much inward light.
I’d need to go a bit higher or get a real stubby.

if mounted on tie rod, lights wouldn’t move🤷‍♂️. If I just wanted a low hanging static light, I would cut a slot in the skid plate and mount a Baja Designs S8 light bar in there kind of recessed. Basically what Oracle came out with, just using a better light.

Also came with a nice bracket for the lights, will see how they last once I get my jeep back and get them all installed.

This is an old thread, but how did the lights and mounts work out? I am on the verge of buying this same kit, or possibly different lights, let me know your thoughts.

Brackets work great, personally not a fan of the lights. They work alright on there own but if you aim the with white lights the yellow light is to far down and if you aim with yellow then the white is up. When I get around to install the brackets on my new jeep I’ll be going with a different set of lights.
