Well, I will not put my neck out and say the blank will positively, do the deed for you. I believe it will based totally on that the description says it is in fact a 2016 Jeep Fiat High Security Emergency Key and that is what you want.

You could reach out to the seller and ask is this in fact a 2016 Jeep Fiat High Security Emergency Key

Positive thing... seller is in the USA
I ordered it, another post said locksmith reported jeep renegade uses same key blade.

My fob key would not go deep enough into a BOLT hitch pin to set. Had to use a Fiat blank cut off of my original to set. Notified BOLT about the problem.

This thread was helpful. I ordered two blanks from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVSFHQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and had cut local in the Atlanta area. Only place I could find charged $75 to cut the two keys. Not happy paying over $40 for a simple mechanical key that only unlocks the doors but I've been programmed from an early age by my dad to always have spare in case keys get locked in the car. When (if) needed, will be worth the money

@Tiger13

At least you found a locksmith that had a Lazer cutter that could do them for you. Such locksmiths can be a pain in the arse to find.

I paid $60 to have two cut which included a small tip for the locksmith... BUT, had to spend say $20+ in gas and a lot of driving time to get to and from the locksmith. Anyway, $ well spent.

I'd like someone to borrow a play from the wine corkscrew world and create a devise in similar sprit (no pun intended) to it, with collapsible wings (if not the part that looks like a stick figure's head) that lies snug against the otherwise isolated physical key when not in use, that could come up to facilitate the key insertion and torqueing issues discussed above.

Sure, there's these, but I'm talking about something that is uber minimal footprint in size: perhaps one of the reasons people might seek (along with having a spare) to isolate the physical key in the first place.

Why not just remove the battery from a extra fob and hide on the outside of the Jeep, under the hood. Then when you are locked out install the battery and you are good to go.
;)Well that's fine until someone steals your rig. With the key fob hidden in it, how you going to get into your rig then?! Huh, huh?;)

Serious question related to this discussion.

For less than bare bones Wrangler Sport owners, is the only thing that engages your alarm the pressing of the alarm button on the key fob, or does, say, locking the doors from the inside button with the front door closed, and then shutting all doors arm it too?

I'm thinking of separating the physical key from the fob, removing the fob's battery, sticking the fob in a hiding place near the starter button, attached to the fob one of those employee badge belt holders that extend and retract, and then starting the rig, once inside with the physical key, by fetching the battery-less fob, and physically pressing it against the starter button.

The fly in the ointment in this "no need to carry the big fob hack" may be the inability to arm the rig.

Or, on a previously armed rig, simply turning the physical key without pressing the disarm button on the fob first will cause the alarm to go off????

Maybe the alarm going off, if at all, is only temporary as I'm describing what happens if you arm a rig, and return to it after the fob's battery, for whatever reason, has gone to "battery heaven."

As far as I know, you can arm the system without the fob - just push the lock button on door. However, you can only disarm it with the fob (or proximity sensor if you had it).

The owners manual specifically says "The driver’s door key cylinder cannot arm or disarm the vehicle security alarm."

Thanks. I'll have to try opening the armed rig with the key, the fob in a Farraday bag or battery absent and see.

My guess is that if the audible alarm goes off, it stops once the battery-less fob presses the start button.

As said before, WHY all this???

I guess if you locked your Jeep with the key fob in it by accident this would be helpful. Why ever would you leave an active fob on purpose in your rig??? You cannot start the Jeep w/o the fob!!! Sounds like almost everyone here needs a subscription to Uconnect or SiriusXM Guardian (same thing I think) so you guys can open and start your rigs by phone or computer?? ( I know pretty pricey!) lol

Go Jeep!!!

I was hesitant to respond as your post seemed rhetorical and self directed. However, a spare key to me is and has been essential especially as I have kids. Teenagers can figure out how to do stupid crap like locking a key fob in the Jeep in ways engineers cannot stop. When/if it happens, having a mechanical key available is much better than waiting on a locksmith.

As others have stated, there are also times carrying a full-size key fob is not practical such as full immersion, highly active water events and just carrying a mechanical key is much more appropriate.

Tiger13,

Makes sense I guess except some folks seemed to be speaking as if the "key" was magic, gotta have one etc? W/O the fob the doing of anything but opening the door is futile, all I was saying.

However leaving your Jeep with the fob inside and being elsewhere seems a dangerous act, a broken window and off it goes, just sayin'? Yes though especially carrying around the JL size fob!! lol
