Don't update, unless it doesn't work.

Same for computer operating systems and firmware.
What if your out of warrantee and an update is needed. having to pay a dealer for that is B.S.
They have you hooked for the life of the vehicle. What if there is something in the code that calls for an update now and then.
I think we are being engineered into lifetime service.

Any type of vehicle flash that is required for the proper/safe operation of the vehicle would be put out as a recall and not require warranty to be in affect or a payment to the dealer.

Radio firmware updates are generally not covered if you are out of warranty.

I disagree. I think they would only put recalls out if it affects the SAFE operation of the vehicle.

If they had a firmware update for something, it would probably be a TSB. You would have to pay to get that TSB flash applied.

I had another vehicle (not Jeep) that would almost die out at stop signs. Took it to the dealer, required a firmware update, and they charged me $150 or $175 for the update. I was a bit skeptical, but it actually fixed the problem.

If something isn't directly affecting you, I avoid updates. It would be nice if makers put out changelogs for firmware so you can see if the update fixes an issue you have.

I did say proper operation of the vehicle, which to me includes SAFE operation of the vehicle.

Hopefully you realize that security vulnerabilities are frequently resolved in those operating system and firmware updates. But maybe you do all of your finances and banking in person.

Look dude, all I said was if it works, dont spend a dime if you don't want too. If you are afraid your jeep might get hacked. Then fix it, it's that easy.

Maybe you should read what I said a little closer. if the code says im not going to let this or that work properly, and an update is the fix? Thats B.S.

Who in their right mind takes it in for an update if there is no problems??

By the time your warranty ends they’re probably not going to be supporting your platform anymore so no need to worry about updates, as they won’t exist.
