I have a 2020 Rubicon Recon, only 2500 km so far. I notice that it is a pretty rare occasion to see the Jeep shift in to 8th gear. I know the tires are slightly larger on the Rubicon but it also has 4.10 gears. I thought that it would shift in to 8th sooner than something that isn't geared as low. At 110 km/h (68 m/h) it is almost always in 7th gear. Is this normal?

I have had it in 8th gear in 4 Low. I am pretty sure at interstate speeds it is in 8th gear? This system reminds of those old farm trucks that had 4 speed but had a high low trigger. This thing in a sense has 16 gears or speeds. I have been impressed with it.

On the 6 speed manual, I rarely get past 4th gear. 6th is unusable.

Mine’s in 8th in the low-mid 50’s mph with 35” tires on flat road.

If you have a heavy foot.....like to accelerate quickly........you are training the "adaptive" transmission to shift at higher RPM's than if you drive like a Granny. You may have trained it to think it should not shift until the RPM's are a little higher.

I’m running 35’s and have the heavy AEV Borah wheels. I’m still seeing 8th gear on the highway and City.

I have the 3.0 L diesel. If I am above 56 mph at constant speed and if the grade is <6%, I am in 8th, at 1,850 rpm.

When my Rubi was stock I was in 6th gear at like 50mph+ never even needed to downshift on the highway, surely the 8speed can do it. With 37s and 4.88 I am in 6th at like 45+
