It's a hook with a velcro strap that you loop through the stops on the hood and hook inside the top of the windshield.
Where is that strap or do we need to purchase it separately?

Yep one in my town.
Thatā€™s great. I used to love the drive in as a kid. Theyā€™re all gone around here.
In New York City we catch the movies On the lawn occasionally.

I found 2 Velcro straps under the cargo hatch in the rear. I used them when I folded back the sunrider soft top to the 1st position. Not sure if they are the same ones or they might be hidden in the windshield stops.

They look like they open up and fold back. There is a latch it looks like but I havnt tried. Might look in the manual after bit.

Found it.

2:50.
That was useful? I wonder where those straps are though. Donā€™t think Iā€™ve come across them yet

You should verify state law. Most states REQUIRE a windshield. I'm pretty sure the owners manual also states that the windshield should never be folded down for use on public roads.

neat feature, surely would NOT use on road at 55 mph or so! no jeep yet but only the pickup will do as i need to haul + can't afford another toy. my 2001 TT roadster is my toy + the pickup would be a DD + coal hauler, will see what if it can do that

Bummer. Was hoping to find them in the cargo area. Havnt even seen my tool kit yet but I did find 2 other small straps about the length of the Velcro straps I found that hold my top down in the sunrider position.
Also 6 mopar lug nuts in the center console.

Doubt I'll ever put the windshield down. It's almost as easy as putting it down in my old cj 7. Just twisted 2 knobs on the dash.

I only dropped the windshield once last year but I really enjoyed it and so did the family. It was fun and we will do it again Iā€™m sure. On technical off-road trails it does not make a ton of sense because you actually loose some viability on the sides of the hood. Think of your hood being bigger and that does not bode well when you are looking for rocks or where to put your tires. However, on less technical trails and forest roads it should be a blast and it adds to the open air ā€œfreedomā€ feeling thatā€™s why Iā€™m sure we will drop it a few more times this summer. We do a lot of camping where we will set up the tent for 2 or 3 nights and enjoy drives on forest roads, launching paddle-boards, kayaks, and the occasional short run into town for groceries. I see us leaving the windshield down for the whole weekend. Iā€™m glad that Jeep kept the feature and made it even easier to do with this version of the wrangler.

I have been wondering what those velcro straps were for literally since I picked up my jeep!

Make sure they have the rubberized metal hook. If not, they are to strap the soft top bows in the sun rider position.
