Here's the question - how much is your insurance deductible? $250, $500, maybe $1000? Now, how much are you spending on those items to prevent theft? I don't know, so let's call it "X". Lastly, what is the percent chance that your Jeep get stolen?

So far, roughly 1.1 million Wrangler JLs have been sold. And, only in Hawaii does it even rank in the top 10 of vehicles stolen. But, let's say that it would be the #10 stolen vehicle in the US. That would put annual thefts at ~13,000 units, or 65,000 since 2018. That's a 6% chance of it being stolen.

Now, if you spend money on theft prevention, then there is a 100% chance you've spent that money (duh). But, if you don't then there is only a 6% chance that you will have to pay that deductible. So, which one is greater? It's a simple formula:

If X > $1000 * 6%, then you're better off not spending any more than $60 on theft prevention ($30 for a $500 deductible, $15 for a $250 deductible).

Obviously, there's some consideration that must be made for dealing with the hassle of having your car stolen. But, that's very subjective. For instance, I wouldn't mind that much. I tend to look at those things like opportunities. I once had factory chrome wheels stolen off my Firebird convertible. For the amount of money that the insurance gave me for factory replacements, I was able to buy aftermarket wheels and tires for the street . . . PLUS a set of 17x11 C5 replicas with 315/35-17 race slicks for racing!
Just had my week old Jeep (100 km on it) stolen in my area along with 4 other Jeeps the same night, all new. The scum broke in by jamming something in passenger door key then had pulled the glovebox out to access behind it. Went around the corner and created their own key fob. I have video from a neighbour of them walking up to my Jeep and having it open before they even got to the door. Drove across the front lawn as my son looked out the window.
All wireless security cameras in our area were jammed with some kind of device. So use wired cameras.
Jeep was then parked on a city street an hour away to cool off. Luckily I had a great tracker put in the Jeep when I bought it the week before. Only pings at a specified time once it is activated so really hard for scum to scan for. Had to wait about 6 hours to get its location. Police were called and vehicle was picked up and taken to Police station. When I went to get it neither of my key fobs worked any longer. Have to get reprogrammed and put as many alarms and cameras on my Jeep as I'm sure they will try again. I'll be waiting this time. F-ers!
I highly recommend this tracker, very high recovery rate.
Other 4 Jeeps I believe are long gone.

Good for you great news that you got it backI. Did you have the uconnect working That comes with a Jeep You should have had probably a free trial maybe the first couple months did that work at all or you just used the tracking you had ? I also have a tracking device It will show me exactly where mine is within 10 ft If my vehicle moves without it being started it will notify me immediately like a tow truck tows it and if someone starts it up and drives it and leaves the area that I have designated it will send me a text that it's moved and notify me immediately and I can track it and call the police immediately and tell them where it's at yeah alarms don't do anything today You got to have tracking devices but if they're smart and they're professionals they can pull the fuse just like you can pull the fuse on OnStar and it won't work. Was yours something that you just bought like you put in a suitcase or something and you put it in there I know you want to give too much information out but did you something you just stuck in there like one of those tracking devices you put in a suitcase or was it wired in?

Yours sounds good as well but be careful it is not easily scanned for. The Ucconect will not work if they pull the fuse for radio. Also pulled fuse for horn so no alarm when they first broke in. I am trying to find really strong locking hood latches, mine has a front camera in centre of grill where some people are able to put a hood lock. I'm sure they will just break them but will slow them down, as well as a club and keep in garage as much as possible.
You can check the tracking device I use at the link I posted above. Not hardwired in but not easily scanned for by the scum as it only sends a quick signal then shuts off again.
I now have to scan my vehicle for tracking devices because I'm told the scum will often put a tracker on it to come back again if they don't get it the first time.

That sucks yeah you can buy one of those little trackers that you put like in luggage and they can know where it's at any time That sucks It probably not be able to locate it or no it's in there. Yeah I knew you connect was nothing nothing like or helpful It was like OnStar they can pull that fuse and it's done yeah mine's hardwired in I had to hood lock the taser makes the horn go off and then I have a hood lock that I bought that goes in the grill in the front but that can be broken with a crowbar. It sucks that we make things easy for us and then they take advantage of it did you have the system where you just walk up and touch the door handle and unlocks the door for you yeah these push starts are really being stolen Hell 14-year-olds put on TikTok how to steal a Kia That shouldn't be allowed. I worry about mine even though I keep it in the garage at night If I go somewhere because I got the top and doors off from June 1st to October 1st so really worried with the doors off anywhere I go It's an open invitation you know because there's no doors on it. When you're at home also keep your key fob in one of those little envelopes that you buy on Amazon little leather pouches and it keeps your key fobs from sending a signal to them even though they did it different it sounds like I wonder why they went behind the glove box though I thought that was where they just stick it in the USB port under by the left dab under dash there I thought they'd do something there but I guess they can just steal it anywhere but I still know why they pull the glove box that's weird

I guess you're lucky because sometimes we'll take it right to a chop shop and start you know tearing it down real quick looking for those devices and then sometimes they leave it somewhere to see if somebody comes and gets it finds it like the police

So I did the Faraday bag for both my remotes, seem to work great, but I was seeing thieves steal Jeep via the OBD/OBD2 port or the SWG Port, I was wondering which port they are going after OBD OR SWG? I HAVE A 2020 JEEP WILLYS.

Also seen the Taser Mini as a solution, pin number etc. but I also seen that they can just remove the device and plug there device in, unless I am reading it wrong, please let me know what you have seen.

Someone should come up with a blocking device similar to the steering wheel blockers, that attaches to the passenger side grab bar and blocks the possibility to open the glove box.
Yes that would be a good thing, or just encrypt the Canbus so only your Key Fob would work, keep your key fob in a Farady bag and no more stealing the Jeeps.

So if you dont care enough about a 50,000 claim and your rates going up more then already do then do nothing. A pro wont be stopped but your armature it can not to mention what you might lose in the the jeep like personal items then do nothing but some do care. I pay $ 150 a year for a tracking device that will notify me the second it starts moving like with a tow truck. So no i don't want to get less to start over on a new vehicle and have a claim on my record. Some people care about all the time and personal things they did to their jeep

That's fine, and exactly what I meant by "subjective". Basically, you are OK with paying extra money for peace of mind.

I also pay for peace of mind. But, I do it by putting that money into gas and bait, then going fishing.

Yeah $150 a year is a lot of money to protect your Jeep. You're right fishing baits more important than protecting your Jeep but I bet you put a lot of money into your Jeep on aftermarket stuff too just So maybe someone else can have it and your premiums will go up a lot more than $150 a year. My sister sees it every day with people since she's an insurance agent. But you're right Your Jeep your money have a Great day
