So I did the Faraday bag for both my remotes, seem to work great, but I was seeing thieves steal Jeep via the OBD/OBD2 port or the SWG Port, I was wondering which port they are going after OBD OR SWG? I HAVE A 2020 JEEP WILLYS.

Also seen the Taser Mini as a solution, pin number etc. but I also seen that they can just remove the device and plug there device in, unless I am reading it wrong, please let me know what you have seen.

Regards,

DR.

Here's the question - how much is your insurance deductible? $250, $500, maybe $1000? Now, how much are you spending on those items to prevent theft? I don't know, so let's call it "X". Lastly, what is the percent chance that your Jeep get stolen?

So far, roughly 1.1 million Wrangler JLs have been sold. And, only in Hawaii does it even rank in the top 10 of vehicles stolen. But, let's say that it would be the #10 stolen vehicle in the US. That would put annual thefts at ~13,000 units, or 65,000 since 2018. That's a 6% chance of it being stolen.

Now, if you spend money on theft prevention, then there is a 100% chance you've spent that money (duh). But, if you don't then there is only a 6% chance that you will have to pay that deductible. So, which one is greater? It's a simple formula:

If X > $1000 * 6%, then you're better off not spending any more than $60 on theft prevention ($30 for a $500 deductible, $15 for a $250 deductible).

Obviously, there's some consideration that must be made for dealing with the hassle of having your car stolen. But, that's very subjective. For instance, I wouldn't mind that much. I tend to look at those things like opportunities. I once had factory chrome wheels stolen off my Firebird convertible. For the amount of money that the insurance gave me for factory replacements, I was able to buy aftermarket wheels and tires for the street . . . PLUS a set of 17x11 C5 replicas with 315/35-17 race slicks for racing!

Thieves can just connect 2 wires to the canbus anywhere on the Jeep.
What we need is the firmware update they are giving to the Hemi Challengers.
@JeepCares tell me this is in the pipeline please.

Are you sure FCA cars can be hacked like this? I only read about attacking toyota in this manner. For sure if you want to access some wires on a jeep the fender only have 2 fasteners and don't need to open the hood.

opening the doors are easy, they can pick or smash their way in...

our real concerns are thief programing new keys which they can do through SGW or OBD.

My insurance actually informed me about wrangler being on the list of more stolen vehicles and want me to install their tracker that I cannot see tracking result ?, else they are going to increase my premium next year, I'm like lol, my lowly sport ain't worth stealing, go get the rubicons.

This is why some people think they got one of their lights stolen. A thief was trying to hack the CANbus. It's rare, but happens.

One thing to feel better about is that your Jeep is worth far less to a thief with the top and doors off. It won't bring money in the 3rd world without those things.

Yes, they attack the canbus behind the glovebox to make a key. It is literally just the 2 wires.
Please don't send them after my Rubicon, lol
Edit- here is a mopar cable with the canbus connection...

The Tazer 'light show' will also make your lights look broken sometimes. I freaked out the first time it happened.

They only steal the nice shiny, pretty colored Jeeps. The waxers are the ones they want.

EVT My Mopar. It's a tracking device If the vehicle moves without being turned off with your remote it's connected and you can't just pull a fuse and kill it very quick because of the brain is hit up underneath the dash hard to get to and when they open the door it's going to go off The minute my vehicle moves without being turned off and notifies me and the tracking company and the police are called I can locate my vehicle 24/7 within 5 ft of where it is. Lars do nothing nowadays as we know most vehicles are stolen with the tow truck or with the push start it sends a signal all the time back and forth to the vehicle and they have a blank laptop device and it can just put it on your garage door and and still the signal from within your house of the remote and then they put it on a key fob that that's blank. On Amazon you can buy those little pouches for about $10 It's the same thing like people still in this signal from your credit cards. Put that little remote in your the pouch when you're at home you can't even get in the vehicle it won't start even with the remote inside the vehicle because it's not sending the signal it's blocking it. But if they did get that signal and they or they tow it like I said there's been a couple times for some reason it didn't turn off and I start driving down the road they'll call me and say are you in your vehicle and I said yes okay we have a signal saying that it wasn't turned off and it's moving You don't want to wait till 8:00 in the morning when you get up and they've had 10 to 12 hours use it the one dealer I go to every vehicle in their lot has it It's $150 for a year it's not bad. They've had a vehicle that got stolen and taking Mexico and they found it went and got it It's almost like OnStar except long story people know where to pull the fuse pretty quick This is a little different look into its best deal you can get the tracking devices is the way to go Like I said I can always look at my vehicle see where it's at. When I was at the dealership and he told me they were in it was in a shop being worked on at the time I talked to him It was a lie because it was still sitting out there in the lot I could see it It never moved for days lol This is the best device you can get Yes this is a long post with sorry I just wanted to keep talking I guess lol. 877 477 3710 at least give them a call and talk to them about it you'll be glad you did

Neither. They use the STAR rail behind the glove box.
