When we wheeled with you at Gulches, we had this kit installed. You have more flex with the Metal Cloak kit, however, and spend more time wheeling than we do.
I installed the kit in 2021 and have been very happy with it. The functionality that you get for the money canāt be beat.
I had concerns about wheeling with it, and have been pleasantly suprised that the bags both still hold. I did have to replace one section of air line that was pinched on a...
Per Dana/Spicer, use the hole on the bottom :giggle:
The two fill hole options are there because they use the same cover for multiple vehicle applications. In the video below they mention that the lower hole should be used for the JL 44 cover application.
I donāt own this trailer anymore. I miss it and will likely be starting another build this year.
The back door is 3/4ā plywood, skinned in aluminum. The hinges are from a JL swing gate. The latch is cam style bar latch...
Iāve been looking at these Maximus-3 Rubicon bumper filler panels for the last 5 or 6 years and I finally broke down and ordered them. These are the standard (smaller) winch version and the older gen VR-8 still doesnāt fill it out. This has been a great little winch though; no complaints at all...
Yeah I get the 800 degrees occasionally, along with āpress clutch to startā even though itās an automatic. The most annoying one is the A/C blend door actuator going nuts while the Jeep is turned off.
Best thing a new Jeep owner can do:
The day it leaves the dealer lot take it into the woods and run the whole side against a tree. Yes, that will suck and you will be mad at yourself for a day or two. But the next few years you wonāt worry at all about scratching it. Go out and do what itās...
Ah, the olā switcher-roofāski.
The guy who stole the half doors off of my old TJ tried something similar by swapping out the upper skins. Couldnāt hide the fact that my key still fit the locks, though. š¤
Iāve seen rigs with front and rear winches as well as pull-down winches in all 4 wheel wells.
Bottom line is: one winch and some nice rigging gear can get most vehicles out of most situations. Most off road vehicles are working to get āupā the trail in front of them, so putting just one winch...
We have a 1.5ā Teraflex spacer on our 18 JLUR, stock Rubi wheels, Metalcloak Rocksport shocks, and 2ā bump stop extensions. Stock Rubi wheels, no wheel spacers and 37x12.5ā Falken AT3Ws. I did have to remove the rear fender bulge from the inner liner and adjust out the steering stops and it...
My power lock on the rear tailgate stopped working. So every time Iād lock the Jeep and then return to open the tailgate, or the kids would pull on the tailgate handle before I unlocked the Jeep, then the swing gate would open and the alarm would go off. This became quite annoying.
So I ordered...
I run 37s on stock wheels with no wheel spacers. The only other money I had to spend to make it work was add a 2ā Teraflex spacer lift. (2ā front, 1.5ā rear for the JLU, itās the opposite for the 2door JL)
I also added 2ā Old Man Emu bump stops and I replaced the shocks. You could get away with...
Our 3.6L sounded just like yours brand new. At 59K miles we got the noise in the video below which was diagnosed as failed rocker and lifter on cylinder one.
I canāt tell you what it is. I never have had the issue form the stop/start system. But on cold starts I have been able to make it stop by only barely applying pressure to the brake pedal and then releasing it as soon as the Jeep starts to turn over. If the brake pedal is compressed to the floor...
Keep that paranoia to yourself! I donāt need any of that. š
I mean I would have loved a new cam. Optimum situation would have been a whole new engine at 60K, but what all are they required to replace once they find an issue? I donāt know.
I asked about the cam and they said it looked good...
I thought I would share my experience with engine trouble and the following good experience with dealer service and the associated power train warranty claim. I feel like we typically highlight the bad experiences and donāt hear enough about the repairs that go well.
The Jeep is a 2018 JLUR...
A few years ago I bought the Airlift 1000 for less than $100 and it was the best money that Iāve ever spent on my Jeep. Very easy to control squat and it helps to firm up body roll. For folks that tow anything or carry cargo in their JL, I canāt recommend this kit more. I was worried about...
