You're keeping busy!Yes, do go with 75/140 front and rear..
In the last 2 days, I have done 7 diff fluid changes and 2 transfer case fluids for other people's JL's..
Today, I will do my JL's diffs and transfer case ...... will also do diff fluid on a gal's JT.
That's brilliant! Very clever.
Duh, Of course !!!
Out of curiosity, was there a change in the recommendations or service manual? When I did this a couple years ago the service manual page you posted called for 75/140 in the back and 75/90 in the front. That was also what you recommended at the time and what I went with. Just curious since it’s that time again on mine.Yes, do go with 75/140 front and rear..

I have the vehicle owner order/buy the fluids and/or parts ... I give them links to go to and buy.How much do you charge for the fluid changes?
If I had to guess, I'd say some owners are voluntarily choosing to use 75W-140 instead of 75W-90 based on their individual use cases and/or personal preferences. The printed gear oil specifications for my F&R axles are the same as what you mention.Out of curiosity, was there a change in the recommendations or service manual? Little to no 4 wheel driving and yup, front diff fluid will look like that..You're keeping busy!
So, here's what I wound up with today. Front diff fluid was golden brown and super clean - I could see right through it when it was draining, even though it has 30K on it. The rear fluid was icky again after just 15K miles - black, and I think a little sparkly. I know the clutches wear on these units, but hopefully it's not actually bad.
Are you still recommending Valvoline 75w140 both front and rear?Little to no 4 wheel driving and yup, front diff fluid will look like that..
Don't forget to do the transfer case if you have not done so...
Cost syou say $28 for the ATF+4 and takes little time, effort and know how to do.
I've run this a few times front and rear. Currently running amsoil extreme gear oil but had no issues with the Valvoline 140 in both. Are you still recommending Valvoline 75w140 both front and rear?
Any 75W-140 will fill the need. I have been running Valvoline but have ran M1 and Amsoil as well. Dana specifies 75W-140 in both axles; FCA specifies 75W-85 to meet CAFE requirements. Are you still recommending Valvoline 75w140 both front and rear?
Thanks. I only have around 7500 on my 22 JLR, but I am going to add after market diff covers and so I will, of course, be adding new gear oil. Thanks again.I've run this a few times front and rear. Currently running amsoil extreme gear oil but had no issues with the Valvoline 140 in both.
I am putting the Dana Advantek covers on.Any 75W-140 will fill the need. I have been running Valvoline but have ran M1 and Amsoil as well. Dana specifies 75W-140 in both axles; FCA specifies 75W-85 to meet CAFE requirements.
