Wow... reading stuff like this makes me nervous long term for my 3.0...

Sorry they're putting you thru this.
The main issue here looks to be another shitty dealership and supply chain issue, not necessarily 3.0 problem.

What he said. Still looking for a dealer within 50 miles that doesn't suck.

I’d be calling and demanding to speak with the owner of the dealership or calling the service manager every day until it’s resolved. I’d also see if I could get ahold of the regional representative to file a complaint. Leave a 1 star Google Review. Squeaky wheel tends to get the grease. That is piss poor customer service. Hate seeing stories like this, failure on both Jeep and the dealer. Hope this is resolved soon.

Sucks about the issues. The 3.0 engines are terrible. Head diesel mechanic in Ontario, Ca (3rd largest dealer in the state) couldn’t say enough bad things about the platform. All he works on are ecodiesels and Cummins. This gladiator was there today with turbo failure at 6k miles. This out of warranty will cost $$$

the 3.0 diesel is nothing but a problem i had 2 now i have 2 jeep 2.0 not a problem one in 100 have no problems the rest have many
99 out of 100 are problematic? I think we should bypass the lemon law suggestion and move to a class-action lawsuit. Unfortunately, I'm in the 1%, so I can't participate. Kind of a good news, bad news situation for me. :)

@rickinAZ Rick, I always appreciate your contributions (I often agree but even when I don't). Usually just the right injection of levity. I was really hoping we'd have a similar, trouble-free experience as yours. I've owned and built a lot of Jeeps, and I keep coming back because I love the character of them all.

Since the mid-90s I've been lusting after a diesel Wrangler. Considered conversions in several of mine. Had the '18 diesel WK2 and when it was officially announced for the JL I sold my JKUR and that hoping to finally have the ultimate Jeep. When it has worked, it has been exactly that. It tows the boats and camper better than any Wrangler before. It gets better mileage on highway and off-road than any Jeep I've had before, and on 37s! Quieter and more comfortable than any other Wrangler or Cherokee I've had.

I started this thread a month ago because I was frustrated at how long the repair was taking, and to keep documenting my issues with this specific Jeep. Hopefully providing some help to someone else having similar issues. Maybe some entertainment value.

I am crushed that this Jeep has been sitting for 8 full weeks today. I've canceled trips with family and friends to Moab/Grand Junction, and SW Utah that had been planned months before the Jeep went in. I see the carelessness and disregard shown towards my Jeep and anticipate all the issues that might now arise because of how it has been treated and "stored." I see the condition degrade as the depreciation increases. Buying a new one is 10%-15% more expensive for the same, and the parts I've added are similar. Interest rates are nearly triple and this one is almost half paid off.

All that said, a diesel JL or JT are still top of my consideration list. This dealer is certainly not.

Anyone still reading have any ideas or experience with lemon law or arbitration when the vehicle was purchased out of state? My state (UT) lemon law expires after 1 year and the vehicle must be purchased in-state. I purchased in Idaho where the lemon law is 2 years, under which this vehicle would qualify. Jeep says NO because it is in Utah. Has offered arbitration to appeal that.

I feel like any option is lose-lose now.

@GearWhore, don't take my levity with @carlhenry as a sign of lack of empathy for you. Part of why we participate on this forum is to share/learn from other members. My objection is when members cross over from fact to fiction (99 out of 100 are problematic). We all listen to BS every day; this forum is something of a sanctuary of truth - yeah, I know that that is sappy.

Real owners, with real problems, like you, add to the information flow when you share the headwinds that you've faced. Silly claims (99% of all Ecodiesels...) just add to the noise, and gullible people buy it hook, line, and sinker.

BTW, yours is one of the best candidates for lemon law consideration on here. Many are just chest-puffing.

Day 53 of the saga. I guess time for another update/non-update?

Hadn't heard anything since Tuesday morning so I stopped in on Saturday afternoon. Jeep was in the side lot, but had moved over a few stalls. Windows still taped over, new pool of coolant under and drips on control arms. Grille propped forward and now passenger headlight removed.

Under the hood was still the same mess of exposed connectors, intake, exhaust, injectors, and fuel rail.

Went inside to ask about it. Service admin: "Oh, they didn't call you? They got the wrong EGR cooler." As both the service advisor and tech were gone there was nothing more she could tell me or any timeline estimate.

I have once again been crushed. Doug Smith you've failed me again. I will not be getting my Jeep back soon. I know some of this is "just" cosmetic, but it went in for warranty repair without this damage and I expect to get it back in the same condition, despite their best efforts.

Who is this dealer again?? Please name them.

@JeepCares Something must be done about this. Plastic bags in the engine compartment? The windows are still down and the jeep has been sitting outside, in the elements, going on 2 months. Is there a reason why this dealer can’t hook a battery up to this jeep to get the windows rolled up? Also, all of the damage done to this Jeep.

Where is the accountability of this dealer. They need to be spoken to immediately by corporate. This is unacceptable in every sense of the word. PLEASE do something about this. PLEASE document this. PLEASE contact this dealer and get them straight!

He means it'll cost a lot of out of pocket money once out of warranty. There are limited amount of diesel techs at some places and that raises prices on already expensive parts. The moment you slap a diesel label on something it gains at least $100 to the sticker. :CWL:

Ok say what you want about the diesel issues with the 3.0 etc but regardless what the OP is posting in terms of how the dealership is handling this all process the vehicle basically sitting outside in open, the scratches, etc that he had to request they would cover certain components in the engine bay, it’s not right!! Period!! I think that is more of an unprofessional way of doing things that has absolutely nothing to do with what engine or what issues, it shows lack of understanding and respect for the owners of the vehicle!

Actually he was suggesting that IF the Jeep was out of warranty - like way down the road - it would cost $$$. A little bit of FUD.

Not sure what I would be more upset about the mechanical issues and delays or the way the vehicle is being treated by the dealer. The scratches and everything is else is just pure laziness, carelessness and I don't give $hit attitude by the techs and everyone involved at the dealer. I would be raising hell about that to the owner of the dealership, Jeep Cares, and anyone else that will listen
