  1. Strike Four, You're OUT

My '21 is on OEM batteries 5 & 6 now. Been ~6-8 months now, so about time they'll fail again. Certainly doesn't instill confidence in the Jeep for backcountry or even longer road trips. Semi-related: went to test drive Ram 1500s a couple weeks ago. Each of the 4 new Limiteds we tried had a...
  2. Rubicon Steering dampers: Overlanding

Looks like your build is pretty stock-sized and well thought out. If you can't relocate your stabilizer, and don't feel issues right now, I'd keep using the cheap OEM ones for ~$30-$35. It is in a very vulnerable spot, and will likely get hit at least once a field season for you. I crushed 2...
  3. RubiKHAAAAN!

You seem like the type of bloke that does plenty of research before any decisions. However, I want to make sure you're aware of the limitations of the roof rack you're showing and how it mounts to only the hard top gutters. It relies on the structure of the roof to support and brace any loads...
  4. Rubicon Steering dampers: Overlanding

Didn't know/remember that, but good info!
  5. Rubicon Steering dampers: Overlanding

Relocate first. You can use just about any dampener, but get it up and out of harm's way first. I picked up a lightly used Fox ATS, and while I like it, after the first adjustment it has not been or needed adjustment, so not sure adjustable is worth the extra cost.
  6. New Gorilla glass is stupid $$$$

Careful! I had Progressive for 15+ years on autos, home, boats, & motos. 4 windshields on 3 vehicles over 5 years, with no other claims, and received a letter they would be dropping my auto coverage in 30 days! Called to find out why & up the chain all they'd say is their underwriters determined...
  7. 2024 + Jeep Wrangler JL / JT Grille Pinstripes Inlays

Ha! Luis is on it! I figured you could do it. The tough part is convincing my wife yellow accents are cool. ;)
  8. 2024 + Jeep Wrangler JL / JT Grille Pinstripes Inlays

Looks like they have several color options. I was thinking yellow would be cool to signify my diesel.
  9. Body Tub Separation at Rear Seam

Photo of my buddy's 4xe driver's side. Looks a little worse than mine. Says the passenger side is the same on his, too.
  10. Body Tub Separation at Rear Seam

Well this seems disconcerting. Buddy sent me a photo of the rear tub seam paint cracking on his '22 Rubicon 4xe last night. Went out to check on mine, and sure enough, both sides showing the same cracking & separation. About. 2" crack on the driver's side and 7"+ on the passenger. Searched the...
  11. CavFab JL 2.5 Ton Steering System - Available NOW!

@CavFab_mfg Do the ends in this steer system have some sort of anti-flop? I can't seem to find anything here or on your website about it. Thanks!
  12. Jeep *lowers* Grand Cherokee prices. Wrangler next?

Maybe the optics of a lower advertised MSRP are better than $3k-$12k discounts at the dealers? Even my local Utah dealers, which are typically loathe to offer any sort of discount on Jeeps, are advertising $3k to over $8k on Grand Cherokees in stock (and there are a lot of them). Over $13k off...
  13. HPFP Wait List Saga

I submitted a formal complaint to NHTSA on October 6, 2023, before any solution was declared by Jeep. Called last week to check on it. Still live/reviewing. Several other complaints logged in the NHTSA database for same recall without a fix or Jeep/Stellantis refusing to complete the recall.
  14. HPFP Wait List Saga

Did you get trade offers? As soon as the dealers pulled up my VIN with the recall and "parts unavailable" it ended any discussion with polite NOPEs or suggestions to get the recall completed and then bring it back.
  15. HPFP Wait List Saga

In 2023 I was told by 2 Ford dealers, a Toyota dealer, and a Ram dealer they won't consider/take my Jeep as a trade because they can't resell it with the open recall that didn't have a resolution available.
  16. HPFP Wait List Saga

I've been trying to get this resolved for over a year. Mostly due to resale (can't trade in when there's an open safety recall) and the horrible time I've had with multiple leaks and incompetent "repairs." Finally in November notified that parts were available. Great. Except they aren't. Service...
  17. Self-Inflicted Damage?

Just think about how fortunate you are to have an easily replaceable fender with a new driver! I tore off my first fender a few years ago on the big off-camber boulder near the start of Kane Creek. Put the rear passenger door into the rock as well, but it was pretty minor damage considering...
  18. Self-Inflicted Damage?

First hit is the hardest to stomach! Though I've gotten more body damage on my JL from the careless Jeep dealer than I've managed to do on the trail. And I do a lot of trail...
  19. Well it was fun [SPOILER ALERT: THERE’S A HAPPY ENDING]

We got a CPO 2018 X3 cousin 2 years ago and your likes align with our experience. Fuel economy has been a little disappointing at around 25-28 no matter what (drops ~2mpg with roof rack and ski box). Also ditched the run-flats for some Michelin CrossClimate2, which has been a great year-round...
  20. Which one would you choose?

I'd go for the 4xe Rubicon. The JLU is such a usable vehicle. Also, with the current recall on the manuals, who knows when you'll actually be able to take delivery of yours. I'm @ 12 months on safety recall without a fix for my diesel (stop-sale on new diesels since spring). Maybe trade when...
