So prior to this happening I got a blind spot monitoring error (Ive had them in the past). I restarted the jeep and when I took off down the road this is when it went into limp mode. I dont think the 2 are related but worth noting.
When it went into limp mode I noticed the battery was at 12.7, however it is now at normal levels. The Main and Aux were just replaced a couple months ago with Die Hard batteries.
I cannot recall what time of day or night it was the first time but the second time it was definitely in the evening and I had the lights on when it occurred. Without warning but both times the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with several lights none of which made any sense for I was only traveling at a slow rate of speed as it happened. Both times I know for sure I had the auxiliary battery in place. And I remember my Dash lighting up several times sometimes for hours after shutting the vehicle down coming out and seeing the dash lighting up shutting down lighting up while it remained parked in the garage. Again after removing the auxiliary battery completely none of these occurrences ever have repeated agian.

Hi Guys-

Has anyone experienced this? For reference-I live in Illinois, aka flat country. My coolant temp jumps over median at about 55+mph (highway speeds). Coolant levels are where they should be. But it is running extremely hot. Temp instantly decreases when I let off the gas pedal. Everything else seems to be running at normal temperatures.

I have a low-profile bumper and winch, so airflow is not restricted. I was wheeling this past weekend and was pushing it hard on rock crawling and it didn't go over median once. So, I'm confused on how and why this is happening at highway speeds when it is getting the most airflow.

Radiator has been power washed several times with the grille off to get any mud or dust in there. Its ticking me off that I can't figure this issue out and keep running hot. '

I need to figure this out before I head to windrock at the end of August so all ideas/advice please share.

Thank you.

Probably your case is the first one I would say is not normal. If you just accelerated to 70 in traffic, then your’s is normal. But cruising at 70 in FL. You should be around 225°. Make sure your fan is running properly. If it is, your water pump has an issue.

Oil temp looks normal, coolant temp is def hot......I was told that anything higher than like 220's,221-223 is a little warm. 229-230's would be cause for concern. I had a blown head gasket few months ago, was up to 250ksh. No Bueno. Jeep= Just empty every pocket for real, for real.

Sorry, 230 is normal. Fan turns on low at 226°. Takes a minute to settle at 230°

No Deisel, 3.6L
The diesels run hotter than the gas motors. I’ve got a 3.6L and a 3.0L, the diesel always runs warmer. My diesel is in the 1500 truck, which has a much bigger radiator and still runs warmer than the 3.6 gasser.

FINALLY...got the new Mishimoto radiator for the rig. It took three weeks and they gave me an additional 5% for the delay.

The radiator looks very well made and is an additional 5/8" thicker where the OEM is only a puny 1" thick. There is not much radiator on these stock units.

Mishimoto says 4 hours to install...it took me 7 and it is not easy...in fact it's a total pain in the arse requiring the dissembling of the front end...nothing is easy on these rigs.

The stock radiator is 25" wide and the Mishimoto is 25 1/4" wide and that impacts the intercooler...it just won't fit without some "field work" on the new radiator and grinding on the intercooler. Seriously not cool...GRRR.

All the components "stack" on the radiator like a club sandwich and getting them all together is a real PITA. Really two man job.

For the money and work involved, this sucker better make an improvement. It's a big gamble...

This is REALLY not the job for a novice or apartment carport mechanic...just say'n
