Just a little update......dealership had it for 9 weeks. During that time, it went to the paint shop twice. Inspected it with the Service Advisor, and we found imperfections in one of the door they totally repainted, and one other hinge they neglected to touch. Waiting for another appointment....3rd time's a charm?

Went to the service department today for inspection. It took about three minutes of looking before they said they’re going to need it for a week. Plan is to sand down hood and all doors and repaint then replace the hinges. Nothing for the tailgate but neither they or me saw anything there. Jeep goes in for facelift in two weeks. They don’t have a shop onsite but they’re gonna send it to an independent shop all under warranty.
Did yours get in for the repair yet? My son bought a CPO '20 JLUR in October of '23. One door had noticeable bubbling, but he loved the truck otherwise so the dealership said they would have it fixed. He brought it back several weeks later and they took pics. They called him and said the repair was approved, and they were waiting for a body shop since the selling dealer doesn't have one on site.

A few months went by, and he called earlier this month to find out what's the status with the body shop. They told him Jeep changed their policy to only allow warranty corrosion repairs at dealerships with body shops so they could control costs since the outsourced prices in our area is ridiculous (maybe they're lying, but they screwed my son). He wound up having to take a day off work to bring the Jeep to a dealership in NYC that has a body shop, and it's currently there getting at least the one door fixed.

Wow, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope your son’s repair goes well.

I drop mine off on Monday. I’ve been told they’ll need it for a week. They’re going to outsource to a local body shop who will be doing the work. I inquired about full replacement of parts with JeepCares and was told they defer to the dealership for how to proceed on painting vs replacement. I’ve also heard the 24s are coming off the line with new hinges but same doors. I’m guessing it’ll be a problem down the road for new buyers too so I’m just gonna get the paint job as scheduled. I’m planning to call the dealer tomorrow to confirm everything and will report back.

At the shop right now. Tomorrow is the end of the second week. They are excited to be done by the first. I’ll give them a call next week and see

Oh man, I’m worried now by all these responses. Did they tell you it would be this long?

You know this may actually have some merit. Over 5 years we have been in for corrosion repairs 3x. The last after 5 years had expired - due to panels not being readily available. Anyways the prior 2x brought it to my dealer and they outsourced. But the 3rd time was told to bring it to some other FCA dealer with a body shop because they "apparently stopped outsourcing".

The costs were $5000 first time $15000 second time. So can see FCA being concerned about outsourced prices. Anyways Jeep looks basically brand new now. But am somewhat hesitant to look for bubbles. Hahaha!

For those idiotic buffoons that argued for months on here that the FCA corrosion warranty a) did not apply to bubbling paint and/or b) the factory warranty was for only 3 years - well they certainly look super stupid now. Yes they know who they are. Their dumb posts are here for all to see. Hahaha!

Anyways good luck to all those with this super stupid problem. And for those that do not have it yet. Pray and dance in circle - hoping you will never get it.

They never offered a loner, nor did I ask for one.
After the first 3 weeks, they assigned a new Service Advisor to my Jeep, because the 1st guy was a train wreck.

I was not offered a loaner. They did originally say Mar 11th ish. That’s fine I get it. Hopefully it’s not 9 weeks.

This makes sense, I see posts of how much independent shops get reimbursed while my dealer's body shop complains that they aren't getting reimbursed enough to make a profit for these warranty repairs. That's why they string them out and only schedule one per week. And from my experience it appears like they always have their lowest paid workers do the warranty work.

Even though they are doing the repairs, I'm not convinced that the wording of the warranty requires them to do them. At some point they may change their policy and stop approving the warranty work on surface corrosion.

Under the paint isn’t surface corrosion though.

This problem is very well documented. More than what is exactly spelled out - or not - in some warranty booklet.

For over 10 years FCA has a repair and/or replace protocol with a very long list of vehicles exhibiting this issue. As well other manufactures have similar issues with corrosion. FCA choosing to not make repairs is up to them. So for the wise is better to get it done while you can.

If FCA did nothing the masses would scream. So appeasing the ones who complain makes a lot of financial sense to keep them somewhat quiet. All the while FCA jacks up the price on these precious little beasts with new owners thinking this is not much of problem. Until it is.

Many have posted that used JLs sitting on dealer lots almost all have this corrosion problem. Hmm? Wonder why that is. Obvious. For the one or two that look pristine - like mine - they snap that one up in a heartbeat thinking it is one of the lucky ones. Haha on that.

At this point FCA is just putting on a tiny bandaid. Choosing specifically to not to fix the problem vs delay. A hinge shim - does not do much for the hood leading edge or bottom of door panels that get this. All comes down to profit vs cost to fix vs reputation vs supply demand yada yada.

Anyways best is to not look very closely at your paint. Because once you see the very start of the tiniest of a bubble speck - well you got it. It will only get worse. For sure 100%.

ps. the ones posting bs acted as though "they knew for sure exactly what FCA would do ie. deny" - whereas others noted it was up to FCA - which was 100% correct

Ah, so it happened to you the last time around as well! Interesting. He got a call yesterday afternoon that it was ready, and he went to pick it up this morning before work. I think they had it about 2 weeks, maybe less, and they did all four doors for him. He said it came out great, so I can't wait to see it.

Talked to the service advisor today….he can’t get an appointment approved for the 3rd trip to the body shop, because the last repair hasn’t been paid yet. I said the door they forgot to paint, HAS ALREADY BEEN APPROVED. He took a deep breath, and said the same thing again. I guess it’s time to visit the Service Manager.
