Out of curiosity - has anyone measured paint thickness factory vs repaired? I will have a gauge to check the new paint but would like to have a benchmark to judge it by - thanks!

This paint bubbling issue is a real concern for JL Wrangler owners.

Are owners in the typically dry southwest experiencing the same corrosion issues?

I reached out to my dealer about my hesitation to place a new order due to the hinge issues and i was told there is a new recall coming for that issue.
So that would make a total of 12 recalls on the wrangler. Not exactly stellar.

That's a great idea however, I'd want to have known the depth when it was new from the factory.

That’s surprising. I wonder if there’s any truth to this.

I will gladly take an additional recall if it properly addresses the problem instead of just painting over it (again).

I'm glad I recently ordered vs buying something off the lot like I have always done in the past with vehicles. Would rather see this particular paint issue get resolved in factory vs dealing with a recall towards Winter here in the Midwest. My dealer is over 50 miles away in the sticks where the open farm roads always get dangerously snowed out from blowing and drifting ?

I don’t know if it’s been fixed at the factory. I assume so but only time will tell of course.

Havent newer builds been getting a gasket between the hinge and the door? I cant quite tell if there is one on my august 2021 build. Maybe someone with a 2022 can look again? I thought i saw a picture on this thread but im not going back 40 pages looking

I’m still not convinced the hinge/door contact is the only source of the problem. I think its also the fact that they have a steel nut attached to the inside of the aluminum door that secure the hinge bolts.

Washed the jeep over the weekend and noticed small bubbles in the paint at one of the rear door hinges. I am over a year and have roughly 27k miles. They are hard underneath and the paint is not loose and pretty sure they were not there last time i washed the vehicle. It cant be rust under the paint since the doors are aluminum. All other hinges are fine. Has anyone seen this issue?

Wow! My JL 2018 same color, same problem.. warranty took care of it. wonder if it has to do with the color spec? Also check the bottom border of the hood around the center part (LF).

We’ll if that’s the case then yeah it’s going to happen again
