Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

Just dropped my 18 off this morning. I’m told it will probably take around 8 business days, although I by no means want to rush this repair work. I have to admit, so far this process has been painless for me personally. Really praying they can decently match and blend the paint. They put me in a 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn until work is complete.

How many miles are on your '18? I took mine in a couple weeks ago, they took pictures of all the bad spots and turned it in to Chrysler. I just called today to check on status and they informed me that Chrysler got back to them and is no longer covering the repairs after the 3yr/36k mile warranty is expired. Chrysler told them that they will only warrant corrosion as stated in the corrosion warranty which is they don't do anything until there is a hole in the metal. I'd prefer to have this done closer to home, but I'm open to driving to the Carolina's or anywhere else if different dealers have a workaround for this to have it covered after the 3yr/36k warranty is up.

is there no way to prevent the bubbling from happening again?
imdid read about putting a Gil under the hinge.
but now that they aren’t covering anymore it’s going to cost a lot to fix.
my Jeep will be 4 years old in October and I have 27000 miles

i just passed 50k on mine. I’d ask them to show you documentation that Chrysler denied your repair.

We're almost at the same mileage, mine was a little over 54k when I had it in there. Who is your dealership in NC?

I bought a 21 last year and pulled my hinges just to look, no corrosion yet. I did primer the unpainted hinge and unpainted door. I attached a gasket to hinge side. I coated the bolts with dielectric anti seize. I wonder if it will keep the corrosion away, I guess time will tell.

Nah I think they’re kinda ugly. Although I never sat in one but from what I’ve seen not impressed.

Dropped off my jeep on July 24th as per my earlier post. Got a 2021 durango as a loaner. Abs/ess warning came up. Got a ram 1500 eco diesel rebel as a replacement. Nice ride! New windshield frame won't be here till August 23rd so gotta wait over a month since dropping off till I get it back

Finally got the Jeep back yesterday. They repainted every panel. It was in the shop for 26 days. The service tech said he was still waiting on the bill to come through because we were both curious how much money Chrysler is eating. He also that they are so busy they are completely booked out for the rest of the year. He mentioned that Chrysler gives them 7 days reimbursement for the loaner. So not sure how that works. But non the less the Jeep looks wonderful. I do paint correction/detailing and even the buffing and polishing was done great! Couldn’t be more satisfied with the entire process. Well besides the fact that the problem even exists lol

Did you damage the paint on the hinge bolts when you removed them? Mine is black and I'm quite certain if I remove the hinges, the bolt heads will require paint.

Would it be best to take my new Sahara and take the hinges off and do some preemptive maintenance/gasket/coating to try to prevent the corrosion? Can it be done in a way that would prevent the corrosion?

I was thinking this too. Someone suggested tef gel. I would think that removing bolts and coating them would prevent anything from happening.

Got mine back after 10 days. I was told 3 days but it is what it is. They would only repair the hinges that had blistering. I’ll be out of warranty next March so that is concerning. The day I picked it up, I put my driver side Sun visor down and it broke and fell on my lap. The passenger visor did this last year. I turned around and went back to the dealership. Luckily they had one and fixed it in 5 minutes. What a joyous time.

I think they updated the visors on replacements and new builds at some point.

Since this is happening on panels and not limited to the hinge areas, I think pulling hinges is a waste of time. Plus panels are aluminum and you need proper paint.
