Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

What's the explanation for the windshield frame bubbling? Aren't the hinges, bolt and frame all made from steel? How would galvanic corrosion be the cause if this is the case?

Is any JL safe or are they all destined to become rust buckets within a decade?

We just noticed bubbling on both doors, not at the hinges though. There is bubbling near the hinge on driver’s side but at least ¾” away from the hinge. Passenger side bubbling is on the front lower edge of the door, nowhere near a hinge. Also a little bubbling on the passenger hood hinge but none on the hood itself. I will be taking it in in a few weeks to have the dealer look at it.

Got a call from the dealership today. Apparently 3 out of the 4 doors are needing to be replaced to go along with the hood. Now we are waiting on approval for the doors. Hopeful to have it back by the 15th.

Replaced? Never heard of that. It’s usually a repaint.

Yes, the hood was so bad it just couldn't be saved. A lot of the corrosion was around the pinch welds all the way around. I haven't seen the doors sanded but they say some metal is so bad that they would need to cut it out or replace the doors.

I had all 4 doors, hood, tailgate and all hinges except one, replaced. And now the windshield frame soon

Just a thought. Do people who buy aftermarket aluminum bumpers or rock rails have this problem? Or are those parts better painted having less exposure to a steel contact point?

Went to pick mine up yesterday due to holiday getaway traffic a 30 minute ride turned in one and half hours.
After a thorough inspection I liked the work but they didn’t touch up paint the torx bolts on the hinges and It had bare metal showing from installation. Mad I had to leave it and waste my time but I expected something to go wrong. Besides that all 4 doors and tailgate looked good

My Jeep is about to turn 4 years old at the end of the month, and I never saw any bubbling of paint until this spring.

Does it take longer for bubbling paint to appear if the Jeep is garaged and never sees rain or winter?

Our 2018 Wrangler JL is always parked outside in So. Cal. where the sun shines ~300 days a year and we get little rain .

It's a little dirty right now from a trip but you can see the corrosion at our passenger side hood hinge. Jeep is normally well maintained, washed and ceramic coated. This problem is from the inside out. Doors and tailgate - so far - are OK.

Just checked my new to me 2018 JLU. I have it on some body parts next to hinges and the hinges themselves. Less severe on hood and tailgate but still happening. I still have about 10k miles left on the outer panel warranty. Does everyone recommend running this through the local dealership? I apologize but 148 pages is too much for me to catch up on.
