I got mine back from paint 2 weeks ago, it took them 7 working days to paint all 4 doors and the hood. I also bought 8 news door hinges (I did not wanted to have my old corroded hinges stripped and repainted) that they painted and installed… It was a $3,000 job. Except for the new hinges everything was covered by the warranty.

They did a very good job on the paint and on the work. They primed and painted the hinges and their matching surfaces prior assembly and final paint. Here’s a few pictures.

P.S. Excellent work & service from Rive Sud Chrysler in Brossard 👍

Now that’s it is repaired, I expected the back of my old hinges to be on bare metal and corrected… I was wrong they were not corroded. I thought that it was the hinges corrosion that had spread onto the door….

The new hinges were primed in black, just like the old ones. I do not know if the door behind the hinges was primed or bare metal.

Would someone have pictures that shows the condition/preparation of the door behind the hinge?

Here’s some pictures of my worse one on the Jeep and when removed:

I JUST noticed my rear drivers hinge started bubbling...thought it was a unique case until I found this 86 page thread...at least my misery has company. Still got a year of warranty but getting things fixed at the stealership is usually a pain.
Just stopped by my local Jeep Dealership for the bubbling paint repair. The dealer said they were sending it to Chrysler with a report for the warranty claim. I was told to expect 3 to 8 weeks to hear back. Apparently they have a list of 12 Jeeps for the same paint repair in the que. The guy at the service window was not sure if the bubbling paint on the door was going to be covered but he said he would double check.

I’m in the same boat. Took the Jeep to the dealer 3 wks ago to get the bubbling paint documented. Called yesterday and they said Chrysler had not gotten back to them yet. I’m near the end of my 3/36 wondering if it’s a stall technique.
Hello, all.

I am sorry to hear of your paint concerns and would like to dig in further. Please separately send us a private message with more details and we can discuss. Thanks!

If you look back a few pages I’ve posted what everything looks like when the hinges are taken off. It’s bare metal on the door

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
My JLR was in the shop for over a month for warranty work and I put over 2K miles on the 3-4 different loaners I rotated through.
I have close to 4500 miles on the Jeep since I picked it up. Should have my Jeep back tomorrow.

While normally when I go to North Carolina, I will go wheeling in Uwharrie national forest, not this time. we spent our time hiking and visiting with my oldest son. The nice thing is I got 27.9 mpg until I got into the mountains. Was getting over 450 miles on a tank of fuel. I avg about 23 mpg for the whole trip. Got home a few hours ago.

Late to this thread but curious as to how your dealer agreed to repair the damage. My dealer told me straight up until my bubbling of paint chips off or exposes metal they refuse to address it. Is that anyone else experience? I have several hinges and the leading edge of my hood severely bubbled. It is getting worse by the month. I have documented with the dealer and advise them of any new locations I locate in-between services. I wasn't confident about reaching out to @JeepCares ? I've read mixed reviews as to their effectiveness, are they in a position to even assist on something like this?

This is BS, you should probably see with another/better dealer.

You’re lucky in the US you have access to Jeep Cares, you should reach out to them… it may help to keep the dealer honest !

So I got a question. My 2018 jl had thst issue and got fix.
I am trading it in for a 2021 wrangler 4xe.
Withing 3 years, did jeep did something to rectify the problem? Or I should expect this to happen again with that one?

they did not rectify anything. it doesnt happen to everyone, or at least as quickly as others, so you might get luckier with this one.

Still waiting on dealer and body shop to get me in to repaint the tailgate on my 2020, going on like 3 months, and now my passenger front doors hinges are starting bubble. I've driven Jeeps my entire life, wouldn't want to drive anything else, but the quality of this vehicle is lacking to say the least.

Anyone know how long from it being documented until they heard back to get the report done?

My dealer took pictures but still waiting to hear what I can bring it in
