The biggest issue is its so inconsistent from dealership to dealership. Opening a case doesn't seem to do anything because the only result I've gotten out of that is they always side with the dealership. At first they are like, we are hear to help and we will get this resolved!! Only to ultimately say its up to the dealership. The best case is to find a dealership that has a good body shop. Also one that it is willing to take photo's and submit the claim for you. Without that claim submitted Chrysler isn't going to do a thing.
Much appreciate your response! The funny thing is, the dealership (technically the body shop) DID produce a claim submittal and even sent it over to me stating right on the submittals that the balance would be covered ā€œunder insuranceā€. Then when I followed up with them later on, they started blowing smoke, telling me it’d be a year until They could get me in. I’m pretty sure they never even submitted the claim to Chrysler and instead just hoped I’d go away (which I did momentarily) when they told me it’d be over a year. I even provided documentation to Chrysler with the claim submittal as well as email evidence from the body shop telling me that the dealership told them ā€œI had to get the warranty work done at the dealership where I purchased itā€ AND I provided Chrysler a voicemail from the dealership where they told me it’d be > 1 year to get me in. And now the dealership is backtracking saying it’s not covered and Jeep is evidently totally cool with it. I get it - the dealership has a lot of these claims and they’re not very profitable so they don’t want to do the work but that’s not my problem - I bought a $50k Jeep and expect to not have the paint bubbling and eventually falling off after 4 years due to factory defects. Insanity….

And here is a part of the transcript from the voicemail from the dealership’s service department, which I provided to Jeep. Plain as day…

That's crazy, when I took mine in mine in they had to take photo's of each bubble with a ruler measuring the size, then they went back around again and placed some tape and took more photos. After that, I then went over to the body shop for them to look at it to do the estimate. They took the estimate and photo's and submitted them. Took about 10 or so days to hear back but it was approved. Now just waiting on parts so who knows how long that will take.

Here is an update on my 2018 Jeep JL. I brought it to the Jeep dealer where I bought it in Paramus NJ on RT4 for the steering recall and for the paint bubbling on my hinges and panels. They have had my Jeep for 2 months now and just called me to tell me that Chrysler only approved the repair for $1500 and their body shops estimate is $9000, so I should just come pick it up and there is nothing they can do. WTF!!! I called Jeep customer service and they told me that dealers are independently owned and operated and do not have to even honor a warranty and that they deal with their own insurance department separate from Jeep or something and I cannot contact them. That blew me away right there. So now I have to hire a lawyer and go that route which sucks. I am never buying another Jeep/Ram/Chrysler. I will update with the outcome from the legal route. I am really upset that have had my truck for 2 month and never gave me any updates on it and lucky I have been borrowing a car from my in laws or I would be screwed. Shame on you Jeep!!!

This is truly insane and I know it’s the same thing I’m going to be dealing with. Not sure how to start a class action lawsuit but seriously, the fact that Jeep will not take accountability for their product is ridiculous. That’s the entire reason there is a corrosion warranty to begin with. I am beside myself right now.

I am sick to my stomach about it honestly. I have a family and a job and have been borrowing cars for 2 month just for them to tell me this.

Just another note, I called last week and forced someone to give me an update and they told me that it was approved and the truck would be ready in 3-4 days. One week later I got the call today that it was never worked on and it is not happening and to come get it.

This is amazing. Chrysler has made such a mess of this that my office and co-workers plan to avoid their products for the next few years based on what I am dealing with. This will cost them 20 vehicle's over 5 years. And that's after how pissed off my CEO is at Ford after buying their product exclusively since 2008.

So here is another update;

I went down to the dealer and they gave me the estimate from their body shop and the adjusters estimate from Jeep. Their body shop estimate is for $7k and is for around 130 hours of work. The Jeep adjuster just wants them to grind the spots down and blend in which their body shop will not do since it will not look right and be a waste of time since it will come right back. So their shop will only do it the correct way and Jeep will only pay for it to be done like a band aid. I do appreciate the dealer going to Jeep and getting the approval. This whole process has made me really depressed. I love my Jeep, but I have decided to just trade it in and get something else. It is amazing to me that a company can just pretty much tell to go piss off because the warranty repair cost to much. So much for the corrosion warranty Jeep. The dealer told me that another dealer will not touch this and I am lucky they got the approval and apologized it did not work out. So good bye my baby, it was a good run!! I am trying to get excited about what to get next and put this behind me or else it will drive you crazy. I fill like someone just hit my kid with a car and drove off and there is nothing I can about it. Totally helpless feeling.. Thinking of trying to find a new Bronco...

I'm surprised to see all these negative interactions with Jeep. I guess I got lucky with my 2019 JLUR. They fixed the paint bubbling (repainted all 4 doors, hood and hinges) and reimbursed me for most of my car rental cost. The only negatives I encountered were 1) the length of time it took and 2) I had to go to another Jeep dealer (2 hours away) because my dealer didn't have a body shop. New paint matches the original perfectly as far as I can tell. I hope the rest of you can get this resolved to your satisfaction. Not sure what's going on at Jeep ...

If someone has a dealer they can suggest I am more then happy to work with them. It is already approved on the Jeep side. I live in Bergen County NJ. Any help is appreciated...

Yup...Ultimately traded mine off just as you plan to do. Sad. Never another new jeep product for me again. It's too bad, because I loved the jeep.

Classic Kate, can’t be bothered to call and check the status with the dealer… Not sure whatā€˜s the point of Jeep Cares on here if they can’t escalate and check on a warranty claim with the dealer or if they even submitted one.

I would just call directly or email.

They actually contacted the dealer and found out they never submitted anything. All Kate did was tell me to go to another dealer without reaching out.
I just wanted to follow-up with this. I did email from that link you sent. This is their response:

So I'm back to square one again. Dealer said to contact Jeep. Jeep says to contact dealer. UGH!!!!!!
I basically ran into the same problem eventually. I was or thought I was working with a dealership (Greenway in Orlando) and couldn’t get a followup no matter how many times I reached out to them. So I reached out to Kate on here, that was pointless and infuriating. I was expecting her to either reach out to the dealer or get me in touch with someone who could; none of this ever happened with Kate. Was basically told if I’m not happy with the dealer no responding, try another dealer… Thanks Captain Obvious, but I should have already had a case opened and being processed.

I emailed the link I posted and was assigned a case manager. Who reached out to the dealer (Greenway in Orlando) to see what’s going on and for an update. Only to find out they never submitted my claim and was not aware of it, despite my service advisor (Isahi) saying other. I was unable to immediately take my Jeep in to get (re)inspected and start the claim again, only because I regularly travel for work and wasn’t going to be home for a couple more weeks at the time.

My case was closed because I was not actively working with a dealership on the issue… THAT WASNā€˜T EXACTLY BY MY CHOICE, I did everything on my part to work with a dealership and Jeep. Basically I was again told to beg other dealerships on my time off and reach out again if I need further assistance from Jeep ā€œCaresā€.

I did manage to get some very disrespectful texts from my service advisor, Isahi from Greenway DCJR.
