The 30-40k bronco your referring to isnt much of a vehicle.
lol dude that's such a ridiculous statement. The Base and Big Bend broncos will be plenty capable for most people, and they have most of the same/if not more options that similar-priced wrangler has.

Furthermore, pretty sure you can get a 2-door Base bronco with sasquatch package under 40k.

Ya, I stopped replying to this thread because no matter what things are written about the Bronco, there’s bound to be Jeep fans to shit all over it.
The exact same could be said of most of the Bronco guys on this thread too.

I had a first day reservation on the new bronco. I had no intentions of buying a new wrangler. After I placed my reservation I looked into both vehicles a lot. A lot more than a sane person probably would have.

I like them both. If I had the money (and garage space) I'd buy them both!

I had a TJ in HS but I'm not super brand loyal where I absolutely have to have one brand over the other.

I ended up cancelling my reservation and ordered a 2021 Wrangler 2dr Willy's w/ MT.

Five big things made me reconsider the wrangler.

1) I only want a manual transmission. I know new autos are great; I just want a manual because they make me happy. That's it. It seems the new Bronco Transmission is made in China by the same group that made the infamous Mustang manual transmission. I can only tell Ford I think this is a mistake with my pocketbook. I can take my business elsewhere.

2) IFS. Again modern IFS is great and all... But I still prefer a solid axle. My wheeling style isn't high speed off-road. I like slow exploring.

3) Soft top. I only want a 2 door and I can't get a soft top on it from the factory. Where the logic there? I had a hard top on my TJ and it always just stayed on the Jeep... I don't really have a place to store it, and it's a PITA to get off and on. I wanted it off way more than it actually was off.

4) Size. I liked my TJ's size. Not really keen on how big the JL has grown even, but the bronco is bulkier. Very similar dimensions on paper, but the hood line and the body of the bronco make it look much bulkier side by side.

5) electronic 4x4 selector. Give me a lever please.

I will also admit that I am not the typical buyer by a longshot.

I enjoy wrenching on my vehicles and bought the Willy's because I plan to do a lot of mods. 4.88s, Prorock 44, Atlas 2.... and I didn't want electric lockers/ FAD on the Rubi...

I think Broncos will sell like hotcakes, and Ford won't be able to build enough of them.

For a typical 4 door, automatic buyer.... My decision and logic makes nearly no difference and the Bronco is VERY appealing. From the factory it ticks a lot of boxes.

I think both Ford and Jeep have done a pretty good job keeping up with the times and trying to stay true to their past. A lot of the changes I don't like are market, safety, or regulatory based.... Drug into the future kicking and screaming!

Good post. There is no way to say one is "better" than the other. Every buyer has different criteria.

Keeping my JLR for now. Just heard Bronco will be offering a truck bed version 2024. If they offer a regular or xtra cab with a 5' bed. So long JLR.

To add, we know what Jeep brings to the table, were going on year 4 of the jl. People are trying to say bronco is better and consumers haven’t even gotten them yet. Let’s see how the next couple of years play out and then the argument can be had.

School me.
The new ranger is a car with a bed. They took the world ranger which has been the same for the last 10 years or so and brought it here. It’s crap on the days that end in y.

The new Bronco truck would be what the New Ranger should have been.

Yea, this is a huge reason why I'm a "wait and see" for a couple years on the Bronco. It really makes no sense to me... they can engineer a factory soft top for the 4-door but the 2-door somehow eludes them? I'm not an engineer so maybe I'm missing something, but it seems really weird.

5) electronic 4x4 selector. Give me a lever please.
And another great reason. Someone also mentioned they think the Bronco has an electronic e-brake, though I haven't seen confirmation of that. If true that it's electric, that would be such an odd decision for Ford to make after spending so much time researching what people wanted for off-roading.

That's true, though this is the official "talk about the Bronco" thread so I give them a pass here.

One thing to keep in mind is the Wrangler/Gladiator will probably be refreshed in 2022, so the current JL isn't even what most Broncos will be judged against.

I just find it kind of entertaining that they are talking about a truck variant of the Bronco, when the Bronco itself is already based on an existing pickup truck (the Ranger). Given how poorly the Gladiator has sold, not sure it's worth it for Ford to go full circle and create a Bronco-based pickup when they already have the Ranger. Guess we'll see....

Yeah, the Bronco sits on the Ranger frame. That’s the real problem with it for me. When I look at the Ranger, I don’t say to myself Man I want to go off reading in that thing........
My son is all hyped for it though, so I’ll let you know what my thoughts are after we hit the Rubicon trail. In a year or two when it finally comes out.

Gladiator selling poorly? I thought they were a hit?
Gladiator is overpriced other than that it’s a sweet small truck. I mean the gladiator rubicon is the same price as my 250 tremor. More room more power more haul more tow. Now if the gladiator rubi was $45k and a direct competition with the TRD pro and zr2...

Definitely not a hit, though maybe they'll do better in the future. Apparently it was the worst-selling Jeep vehicle last year and also the worst-selling vehicle in its segment. (source article motorbiscuit.com)
