Backup Lights

I watched this video before attempting to remove the panels: . I wasn’t having much luck threading a wire through the frame. Removing the panels took more than 10 minutes, but I didn’t break any clips. For me, this was the better option. I tend to suffer from OCD at times, and I just preferred to route the new wire along the pathway of the factory wiring.

I just received these lights and there are no instructions. Just the light and 3 different rubber mounting brackets. No screws or bolts, etc.

Do you not have parking sensors? Mine are right there where you put the light. I do love the look though

This is a problem for me as well. I think I'm going to try to install just above the outer sensors on each end of the bumper. That's about the only spot that will work for me with the sensors and my bike rack. I need to get some mounting screws. Thinking of removing the bumper to make things easier. I just installed some lights that I found on Amazon that were marketed toward motorcycles. I wired them into the hitch wiring and mounted them in existing holes in the cross member. So far so good, just waiting for it to get dark outside so I can aim them. The lights are offered as spots or floods. I went with spots hoping I can aim them so they don't blind people behind me.

*Edit* Tried them out at night. They might be a little too spotty. I may try the floods. They look better on screen than the picture depicts, but they're not ideal.

I bailed on this project. I just couldn't find a good spot I was happy with for these lights to go. The backup sensors and my bike rack really limit available spots.

I did like the upper outside corners of the bumper but there wasn't enough room to get them mounted without screwing into the frame and I didn't want to mess with it. The lights are nice quality, so maybe I can mount them in the trunk area for extra light.

I still continued to try to run wire from the engine bay through the frame, in hopes of getting new lights I can hang off the bumper (below). I tied a wire hanger and 16 gauge wire together and started pulling but the frame does not have enough holes for me to grab the hanger and continue the pull. Maybe a 2-door is different but I don't see how on God's green earth you can use a straightened coat hanger to get through the entire frame rail length with 2 45-degree bends. I have a set of wire fish tape somewhere that I can't seem to find right now but I will try it if I can find the tape.

I'm sure I'll be called an idiot by certain members and I've fished plenty of wire through house walls but I just can't see how it's possible through MY frame.

Oh, well.

I had the exact same issue. After the third try and using fishing tape, it worked. I used a wire hanger to get it from frame rail to AUX wires. I am glad I didn't give up, it's a clean job.

I had the exact same issue. After the third try and using fishing tape, it worked. I used a wire hanger to get it from frame rail to AUX wires. I am glad I didn't give up, it's a clean job.

Good to hear! I still want a solution. There has been some great success posted in this thread.

I purchased a fish tape from Harbor Freight. My fingers were pretty roughed up afterwards but it was worth it.

Yes. Once you get over the wheel well, you should be able to use your fingers to guide the wire.

I installed the floods today. They're much better. Again, the screen looks better in person than it does in the picture. The floods spread the light out much better. I'm pleased for $18. I'm sure I'll find a use for the spots. Cargo lights, maybe...

Do you not have parking sensors? Mine are right there where you put the light. I do love the look though
