I did a really stupid thing.

I Installed the Oracle bumper mounted backup lights and wanted to wire in diodes to allow dual function of backup plus aux switch.
Everything went fine until it started to sprinkle so I hurried up and plugged it in and pushed the ignition button to test everything. Nothing. The Jeep backups don’t work and the bumper lights don’t work.

I shut it off and checked my wiring…….CRAP I reversed the hot and ground at the tail light wires where Oracle has you T into the orange and purple wires. I reversed the wires to the way they should be and still nothing. Unplugged the bumper lights and nothing.
At this point I just cut out the diodes and wired the bumper lights straight to the aux switch and luckily they work fine.

I have the Oracle flush tail lights. Is it possible I fried just the backup bulbs?

I can’t find a listing for backup lights In the fuse panel. Everything else seems to be working.

Anyone know if there is a fuse for the backup lights?

I suppose my next step will be to plug in one of my old tail lights and see if the backip

We’ll never mind. I’m a bigger dummy than I thought. You have to be in the seat for the backup lights to come on. I was putting it in reverse with the e-brake on.
?
You are not a "dummy"... but you learned....

Yes, the JL goes into auto park when you do that and then the b/u lights do not go on...

I know when I need to say check certain things in regard to back up lights and I am alone.... I with engine idling, set parking brake very firmly, place automatic shift in R and then climb over console and open and go out the passenger door. I do this and auto park does not kick in whereas if I went out driver's door auto park would kick in.

Yeah, not the safest move on my part.... but...

That makes me feel better, lol.
In the end everything works. I don’t have the bumper lights coming on automatically but it’s just the touch of a switch if I need the extra light.
The combination of the Oracle flush tail lights and bumper back up lights is really awesome.

On a different topic... Have you seen the @Threedom replacement panels for the Oracle Flush Mount Tail Lights.. Replaces the fuggly Oracle logo with your choice of custom panel. Install is easy and the panels are inexpensive.

I have Threedom Tread design panels..

I like those, but dang they’re expensive.

ETA but then I guess it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what I’ve spent on this thing in the last 6 mo!

I think he might have been talking about the Oracle tail lights, not the Threedom inserts?

@LiVinIt mentioned in his earlier post he had Oracle Flush Mount Tail Lights->
He said ..... "I have the Oracle flush tail lights."

I then mentioned the replacement panels from Threedom and he commented, that he thought the replacement panels were expensive.

Roger that, thanks for clarifying. I am usually the guy who criticizes those who don't fully read the post. In this case, I'm that guy ☹

Lol, yeah, no problem I meant the panels.
I may go for a set. Nothing against Oracle, I have their products all around my Jeep, but I hate logos, stickers, stripes etc.
I actually like the plain ones best.

FYI… Just read another great wiring option so you do not have to physically tap into the tow wiring harness in the rear of the jeep.

Use a micro2 fuse tap adapter off of the reverse light fuse (F111) in the fuse box under the hood. You will need the 2 input to 1 output diode. The diode can be placed under the hood (a better protected location) and 1 input from the tap adapter and 1 from your aux switch wire into the diode. Then run wire coming out of diode to the rear light positive (which ever light is used, Oracle Reverse Lights in most cases and will be mine) through the frame and just ground the light negative at a location at the rear frame!

This approach is not at all, "another great wiring option" ..

Best bet is to do your business elsewhere rather then invading/compromising the PDC. It is best to steer clear of the PDC and using fuse taps there. Yes, fuse taps are a way.... but why use,.... if there are easier/other/more sensible ways.

I disagree with this; fuse taps are perfectly acceptable and keep from “tapping” into wire that is exposed to the elements. With a fuse tap, not a single wire is cut or pierced and they stay inside the plastic box that the fuses are in. Your diodes stay up in the engine compartment too. It’s just my two cents, but I’ve been wiring Jeeps for 35 years now, and totally disagree with your comment on “more sensible” outside the PDC.

I too have been doing wiring on Jeeps since around 1962. Weekly, I still do wiring jobs on JL's and JT's.

No sense belaboring the point, (my last comment here on this) but I cannot agree that having multiple fuse taps or a fuse tap is the best way to go.

Yes, I do/have done, lots of fuse taps... but again, there are other ways just as easy and in the end way that do not compromise, etc., the PDC.

To each his own .....

Amen, to each their own. Thanks for not blowing me up. I wasn’t trying to be harsh either.
