If they don't fit, watch this video at about the 3 minute mark.
So I got the @ORACLElights bumper mounted backup lights installed finally. Holy hell did I have to grind a lot of material away to make that one fit the steel bumper. I admittedly ground away enough to go through the damn housing. I found myself just before thinking, “This is too much. You’re going to have to grind the bumper.” Then BAM, a small hole. I ended up sealing it up with silicone and switched to grinding the bumper and STILL had to remove a few MM of metal. Good grief.

Once that was done the install was super easy and the result is they are really damn bright, even during the day. I haven’t had a chance to see them in action backing down our very dark driveway, but I’m confident they will make a big difference.

I as well had to grind a lot. and grind the lense too, because when i pushed it in, the aluminum part when it and the separated from the lense whcih got caught. Pulled the whole lense off and ground a little and resealed with the proper stuff. Felt terrible to butcher a brand new product, but they are bright and no moisture issues in either thus far.

The grinding is a pain. I didn't grind any holes or have to grind the plastic on mine thankfully. To me the biggest annoyance was having to stop and let the light cool down so I didn't melt anything. I do wish they'd hurry up and fix the issue.

You no matter what will have to run a wire from engine back to Oracle light. You can tap into 'reverse light" wiring in the engine compartment but that will be connected to a singular diode to wire to Oracle lights or a dual input diode to Oracle lights. Then is you did a singular diode versions, you need a second diode from Aux switch wire into another diode and then tie into wire from the first diode to wire going back to Orable light. OR if you use a the dual input diode, first input will be from tow tapped wire & second input from Aux switch and singular output will run back to Oracle light and then oracle light ground just grounded out at rear of your Jeep.

The single input to single output diode (would need 2X):
Roadmaster 690 Single Park Light Diode

With this method you would have to tie the 2 wires coming from each of these diodes outputs together and run to Oracle light.

OR

the dual input to single output diode (would need 1X):
Roadmaster 790 Hy-Power Diode

With this method the singular output would be run down to Oracle light.
Thanks for the reply, I went with the single 790 diode. Other than some difficulty running the wire through the frame rail it was relatively easy. I made all connections inside the left taillight cavity, using reverse wire from the factory tow package wire harness. Sorry for the crappy picture.

Lol…looks like a bunch of us did the install the last couple days. I did mine today but still need to put the bumper back on. It is all wired up and working.

I actually tapped into the reverse light wire int the PCM wiring and the Aux 4 switch wire into a dual input single output diode. Putting the fish line through the frame was a pain and ended up using my stock antenna with wire to get past a small stretch of the frame. Once I got the fish line through, pulling the wire and conduit through was a cinch.

I ended up tapping the ground from the lights into the DD Hitch Light wiring ground.

Pics from my install so far:

Made sure there was continuity from pin in PCM and my tapped in wire:

With wire run through the frame, switched the Aux 4 switch on and used a test light to check and it is working ???

I bought a set of the oracle reflector replacement back up lights, not realizing that the reflectors they replace are the only reflectors on the rear of Jeeps with the upgraded taillights. Is anyone else concerned about the loss of visibility when the Jeep is parked with the lights off? ? It might just be my OCD, but this is preventing me from installing them. Thoughts?

Looking at getting a set, what is the overheating issue?

I believe he is referring to when you have to grind off some of the aluminum housing for it to fit into the steel bumper…NOT referring to the light overheating.

OK definitive proof the Oracle light is brighter than the DD Hitch Light:

With just the DD Hitch Light:

With the DD & Oracle Reverse Light:

Only when grinding the aluminum housing. The aluminum would heat up so I would have to stop grinding and let it cool down.

Exactly this

That's a judgement call.

By way of example, I've the Oracle flush mount tail lights installed on my JLU. They too don't have integrated reflectives in the design. In recognizance of that issue, the Oracle lights included a pair of small, self-adhesive reflectors that the owner can attach to the vehicle at his discretion. You could do the same if or when you install the bumper reverse lights on your Jeep. Reflectors of varying sizes and colors are easily purchased online, or wherever hitch and trailer accessories are sold.

I didn't add the provided reflectors to my Jeep, because it lives in a garage at night. My lights are on when it's anything less than sunny, too, so on-road visibility isn't compromised.

Thanks, that was basically my initial thought as well. Although my Jeep is a dark color, it also lives in the garage at night. It's only exposure would be if & when it is parked on a dark street while in use.
Adding aftermarket reflectors may be the only option, which wasn't in the plan. Not sure I want to go that route. For now they will likely remain in the box until I resell them or get over my OCD.

Lesson learned.

And another is using reflective tape…a bit Mickey Mouse but effective none-the- less
