I have been eyeing those but they are more money than the other Rigid's everyone is using. I would like to see the difference.
I forgot that Rigid made a special mount for the JK taillights. They worked good on my JK.

How interested would you guy be in a kit that replaces the factory reflectors on the bumpers with a pair of flood LED lights?

It would be a complete kit designed for the JL, with wiring and everything.

I do think you would have to cut the bumper behind the reflets asd it is solid if im correct. WOuld that change anything?
Very interested! As in, would certainly buy.

Has anybody tried the "Hopkins
Light Buster Backup and Utility Light for 7-Pole RV-Style Connectors?"

Hopkins.png

This--IF it works--would seem a simple plug-n-play solution to better backup lighting.

If ruggedness is an issue, it would be simple to remove for off-roading.

Hopefully it doesn't extend so far as to draw interest from midnight auto supply...

Found by googling "trailer plug backup light." This from etrailer.com:

More versions from Blazer, available on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Blazer-C8020-Back-Up-Installation-Necessary/dp/B000OOMQDG?th=1

Halogen, LED with Brake Light, and Backup Alarm versions available.

The reviews are mixed: People either love it or hate it. Apparently water ingress is an issue, solved by one user with silicon caulk. Maybe the designers intended the hole to be for drainage, but that only works when the receptacle is oriented a certain way. This user had the hole at 12 o'clock, so it was a fill hole. You would think a unit that mounts below a bumper would be designed for waterproofness...Maybe the other versions are "better."

I now see on the etrailer.com site that the Hopkins unit is molded with the Blazer name, so Blazer must be the manufacturer.

@Mad Hatter

I have a friend that bought and tried the Hopkins offering with a 2014 JK. Pretty lousy in regard to light output. His died pretty quick.
Could not deal with all the water, slush..

It also had a negative impact on his 7 pin. Water damage ...He had to replace it.

The guy regretted having installed the light.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad I didn't waste my money.

Just one comment to those seeking brighter backup lights: I've noted that if I put my foot lightly on the brake pedal while reversing, the rear brake lights do help increase light behind the vehicle, although with a rather rosy tint! This seems to be useful under certain circumstances, such as driveway maneuvers.

BTW, I have the LED package.

I would be super interested in that! I've been following this thread waiting to see if someone has come up with a clean solution. Placing them in the reflector location would make the most sense and it would look great.
