what the hell, I guess I'll just jump in here and ask:
if the steering in the rubi's is better than the other trim levels and my brand new '20 rubi is a loose sumbitch at anything above 25, should I fork out the cash for some longer or adjustable control arms? upper? lower? both?

I really don't want to go down this hole, but it just has to be better than it is
Actually, the Rubicon has arguably the worst steering due to the (slightly) lifted suspension while keeping the Sport/Sahara LCAs. I had the exact same flightiness that you have, and longer front/lower control arms fixed it. The longer fixed length ones were a little too short for my rig, but they are so cheap ($60) that there is no harm in trying them first.

I've got the 2.5" RC lift and have been considering both of these options as they are the same price roughly:

https://www.northridge4x4.ca/part/c...h-country-adjustable-front-lower-control-arms

I'm worried that the RC adjustable are lower quality as I don't understand how adjustable could be manufactured for the same price as fixed?

Both should get the job done in terms of additional castor - but are they similar quality? Probably not...
Spend $30 more and go Core 4x4 Tier 3. Just sayin................................

Rubicon's steering is the same (or possibly slightly worse due to the caster).

Make sure your steering box is upgraded. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...ew-steering-gear-box-per-tsb-08-074-20.56822/

tsb is the first thing I'll be looking at having done..but, and excuse the ignorance, if I get the adjustable lower, do I really need adjustable uppers as well?

I don't think that the Synergy brace will do anything for on-road handling. The appropriately sized LCAs are your best bet if you want to get the single best bang-for-the-buck. Mine are set 3/8" longer than stock, and all flightiness is gone. My JL now steers like a JK. That would usually be a step backwards, but not in this case.

No. Lowers only will be fine.

Appreciate that, now to figure out which ones to go for.

I'll probably get flambéed for saying this, but designing these is not rocket science - virtually any name brand should be fine. That said, if you find a pair of adjustable ones for less than, say, $150, you are probably tempting fate.

Can not speak for the Synergy brace, as I have a cheap knock off. The brace does make for improved steering. That makes it feel more planted to the road, less wondering.

I also agree that a front track bar brace provides for improved steering. It’s that last piece to tie the steering together and eliminates flex at the steering box/frame rail.

It does not look like Rock Krawler offers a front lower control arm as a stand alone product. They only show the entire front and rear, upper and lower kit on their site. Is it common to only replace the lower control arm?
you can order the parts individually they have another section for components, also if you call your dealer they can order what ever part you want.. I got the adventure series one then went back and ordered the rear upper control arms separately highly recommend @River City Offroad for anything but especially rockkrawler stuff..
