The base V6 in a RAM 1500 has 305 Hp @ 6400 RPM. It's eTorque. My 2023 has a V6 eTorque with 285 hp. It would be nice if the extra 20 hp and eTorque were available in the Wrangler. Having one, I can say the eTorque drives exceptionally well. As a side question, does the extra 20 hp come from the engine, or is the eTorque done in such a way that the electric motor horsepower is counted while in the Wrangler it wasn't.

Yeah, ditto on the eTorque not actually being counted. The SAE hp/torque ratings are for the engine itself. The eTorque motor provides assist off the line to get the vehicle moving.

The difference between the truck and Jeep versions 3.6 is said to be a better intake, specifically the upper plenum, for the reason Ratbert mentioned... lots more room under the hood of a Ram.

I think I've read that the intake is less favorable in the JL than other 3.6 applications.

FWIW: The Livernois tune has massive gains on the JL vs. Ram & Charger.

I appreciate clarifications on the electric motor. However, it seems the power dome in the Wrangler's hood could be raised a bit to make room for a different plenum. Sometimes these differences involve considerations other than engineering.

I have a 2018 Ram work truck with 3.6 and my jeep is 3.6, both with auto trans. The Ram has 153K on it….. both non e-torque…. The Ram is quieter, has 305 horsepower, and gets 27 miles to the gallon……I know aero plays a huge part…. Also to further confuse me, the Ram takes 6 quarts and the jeep 5….🤣 ……

The ram has been flawless except for the oil cooler leak, I put in a new one, and it’s otherwise been trouble free…. I’m pretty sure I over tightened the oil filter so the only thing that has gone wrong wasn’t even the trucks fault….😂 .

Oh, and I haven’t touched the transmission…. ( I have 300-400lbs of tools in the bed under a tonneau cover daily, and pull a trailer 4-5 times a month)….I’m testing the, as advertised, lifetime transmission….. I’ll probably do fluid changes on the jeep, not sure yet….

The 392 & Mojave have a taller hood.
Yep, but would it be good PR for the V6 auto to have 20 more hp than the V6 manual since the clutch can’t properly handle the present hp ? 😒

"Livernois Motorsports now offers a PCM unlocking service and tuner bundle for the 2015-2023 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator 3.6L *(Without E-Torque)."

Can't do a tune, can't do a supercharger, can't do the Borla mini-muffler, can't do the aux gas tanks. But hey, at least I get a half-second of 900WHP off-the-line for 1/4 of a wheel turn.

:crying:

Torque is probably the issue, which is only 9 lb.ft. more. Could probably be limited in low RPM to save the clutch anyway.

I feel like 2-doors with eTorque are the bastard JLs. FWIW: the 2018 2-doors have a whole gallon more tank capacity, which causes some skid plate fitment issues (was M.O.R.E. but they probably fixed it). Next Venture's rear diff skid needs to be clearanced slightly for the 48V battery at stock Rubicon height.

But my favorite 2-door screwing was when Banks Power confirmed their upcoming 3" Monster Exhaust would fit a 2-door eTorque, but then only released it for the 4-door.

What you really get is not having to deal with the non-eTorque's 2nd battery.

I want to know if the BSG can be hacked to stay on longer... like two wheel turns.

Might be a different tune also based on cooling capacity. HP is heat. The ram has a lot bigger radiator capability.

If we're talking about "A Better V6", why has no one brought up the EcoDiesel?

260 hp @ 3,600 rpm
442 lb-ft @ 1,400 rpm

I mean if you're looking for a sports car, you bought the wrong vehicle! However, if you bought a Wrangler to do JEEP things, there's nothing better than the V6 3.0 EcoDiesel!

If you bought your Wrangler to to Jeep things, the EcoDiesel wasn't even an option.
