@wanderer - On balance it’s consistent so far. Remember- the TRX last call final edition was announced with little or no warning with a nice price and markup increase . The 392 is on borrowed time, it Will Happen . They Will Get Real Proud of all 392’s when it does. ⚠

Or the Ark could sail without you.
This is exactly why I ordered a 2024 392 specced with a factory winch.

I figure this combo is on borrowed time and now is the time to take advantage of a factory built V8 Jeep.

With new stricter CAFE standards coming for 27–32 . Proposed but not official Yet , with an automatic annual increase of 2mpg for cars and 4mpg for SUV’s resulting in a 58mpg fleet average what are the odds of a 27 392 ? Slim to none, and Slim just left.

100% agree. I just don't see Jeep keeping the 392 in production past a couple more years.

Yep— Challenger/Charger got a model year warning with the Last Call’s announcement. TRX got zip, V8 quietly dropped from the 2row GC. The performance 392 now in low production Wrangler and low trim GW (Durango?) only. Not worth continuing production. When the existing inventory gets depleted ?….. AKA— Additional California Emissions Equipment on 22 CARB state 392’s until the non carb equipment was used up, then all became 50 state . Judge them by their actions and there is precedence.

Mostly on the highway, at altitude (6000-8000 feet), my JLUR 392 averages around 17 mpg if I don't lead-foot it. It hit 19.1 mpg on my last tank of easy driving. It drops below 10 mpg on the trails, natch, but so has virtually every vehicle I have owned. A full day of running trails then a two-hour trip home (highway'ish) usually nets around 14 mpg for mixed trail/highway driving. Most of the folk I have asked get similar mileage with the 3.6 engines, even a hair lower highway if they have 35" or 37" tires. The power is awesome; the difference in gas for me is the cost of premium and not the mpg it gets.

I tried for about three years before the stars aligned and I found a 392 XR; I kept missing the order windows, which popped up randomly, and my dealer never knew when they could order. And then most of the time the XR package was unobtanium. I succumbed and paid a little over MSRP, first time ever, after hearing from multiple dealers that they did not think there would be more after the anniversary edition. Then the 2024's came out, with the XR standard and floating axles, %$#%! Oh, well, I have put some time and money into mine so am happy with it. But I tend to agree that it's days are numbered, unless there is a drastic change in policy, so I'd grab one if you can.

My fallback was to see if they put the new Hurricane I6 in it, though rumors said it would probably be a detuned, single-turbo version. Still, that would likely be a worthy successor to the 392.

I have a 5.7 L V8 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, the last of the breed. My dealer had no idea they were dropping the V8 at the time (late 2021); the next year when we were shopping to replace my wife's Suburban is when we found out it was no more. She ended up with a Wagoneer (5.7 L) and loves it.

If she wanted a V8 it’s good you got it. V8’s down to base models only on W&GW for 23… 24 ?

If you're looking for something deserving of living it's life out on pavement, perhaps consider a Bronco.

We have a 3.6 and daily drive it. We get 18-20 mpg as a daily driver. Even if I had to daily drive it to my old office which is 125 miles round trip, I work from home now, it would take well over 5 years to save the cost of getting a $50,000 vehicle to get 10 mpg better fuel economy. And that is just looking at the price of fuel

Is this crazy? Got a rubicon x onorder but the strike….. so I was just shopping and there are some pretty good deals to be had for within 10k of my order so how many of you daily drive one? My commute is always different sometimes 0 miles sometimes 250 miles. Any of you feel wiped after your ?
commute ?is gas killing you? All thoughts welcome
And another question with the extreme 35 inch tire package do you get 456 gears and full time 4whl drive?
You have enough money to buy a 392 but are stressing about gas and comfort???

I am an "eco-dude" and a large man as well. I worry about gas, but figure I am saving the planet in a great deal of other places. Sorry if this is not what you meant or someone else has a different way of interpreting this. The large man comment is that the Wrangler is basically the smallest vehicle I would get. I have had it for a Daily Driver for about a year and loved it. I ended up with a new Rebel and of course love the added room, but the 392 is very comfortable. I actually think the seats in the Jeep are better on the long haul. I get 15-16 mpg in the Wrangler unless I am on the road for long and enjoying the exhaust note. Still alot of money for any ride!

The general consensus of the many threads on this topic comes down to its a completely stupid vehicle that only exists to part fools from their money. That said if you have the money, and dont care about it being not what a wrangler is about go for it.

I had to laugh when I read your first sentence because you really do sound like Al Gore. I'm "eco" but since I recycle, use solar, have a prius as a second car, etc... I can buy and drive a GAS GUZZLING 392 Hemi... LOL. Just like all the eco hypocrites that fly their private jets to the climate control conferences.

Stop kidding yourself, large guy or not, eco or not... if you can afford a 392 price tag I'm guessing you aren't stressing about your gas bill. Stop kidding yourself that you are "eco" when I vehicle like this is purchased.

THIS all day long!!!! ^^^^^^

I'd give my left nut for a 392 and then wheel the shit out of it.

Well, I got to drive 2 different 392 today.
This is what I learned they were both 24 models I could live with the red seats they’re not that bad not like the pictures make them out to be
While 392 is cool I think I would be satisfied with a 3.6 and 456 gears.
when I checked the mileage on the unscreened dash on both of them, none of them we’re getting over 12. In fact they were all averaging about 10 miles per gallon now of course those were test drives without a lot of miles on it and probably with a lot of people really putting their foot into it so who knows
And finally as cool as they are, I’m not sure I want to spend another 20 K over what I already have ordered
But more research is in order I will have to go test drive some more

I don’t have a 392. But it does ride nice. Strictly stock. It is 3.6. Will do 23-24 at70mph
