37s on xtreme recon package?

I have 37's on my JLR with a Mopar lift and the 2.5+ inches is just barely enough and required slight mods to the inner fender liners. As far as axle gearing with an automatic trans. ,street 4.10 is marginal, off-road it works. FYI, IMHO I will not dump money(gears, shafts,whatever) into an axle housing that has been well shown to be problematic in handling 37" and bigger tires. The Recon axles are said to be stronger than the Rubicon 44's. If the front axle still has the FAD housing and plastic in the Ball Joints, it's still not strong enough. Time will tell about the rear axles strength if the tubes are thicker. I concider my stock Rubicon D44's to be ticking time bombs and wheel as gently as possible when a spotter says bump it or send it. I ask for a tug or pull my winch cable. By far better than breaking on the trail.

What is silly is spending that much money on an upgrade package with the intention of having it less than ideal. If you're going to run and wheel 37s, 4.88 should be the minimum. Maybe 5.13s, depending on your use case. But what do i know?

It will be 100% acceptable off road with the 4:1 transfer case and 4.56 gears. The only sacrifice, will be on road at highway speed and that will be very minor. How much money do you think it is? I get that 4.88 are a better gear choice, but they aren't free, and they don't come OEM. Factor in bigger brakes, and wheels with enough offset to clear 37's and you've more than paid for the package.

You seem to be pretty worked up over this man. It might be time to let this one go and allow people to build their own build. You aren't paying for it, and you're not driving it; quit allowing yourself to get so worked up over it

I think a 37 would work depending on the tire. One that runs true or large, may need some minor trim or very slight bump extension. But a 37 BFG KO looks like it’ll certainly fit. Here are 2 pics of my XR fully flexed out. All stock except for Fox shocks on 35” KO2. There was a bit more than 1 inch in the front (I didn’t measure but a quick visual) and the rear has plenty of space!

I have 35-12.5/17 KO2’s on my XR otherwise stock. Flexed fully multiple times yesterday and had some extremely minor rubbing. 37’s would likely have moderate rubbing but a fender chop would fix (personally I like the stock fenders and I’m totally happy with 35’s). A small spacer/puck would likely make 37’s a non-issue

Wondering if anyone has any updates to this thread? I have a 3.6L XR on order, and want to go to 37s as soon as possible. Trailrecon did a 3/4" spring spacer on his 392XR and claims to still have some rubbing at full flex in the rear. Anyone have experience doing that with the 3.6L e-torque?

You should have no issues with rub or flex slapping on 37s. I ran BFG KO2 37x12.5xR17 on mine before the 3.5” Gamechanger went on. Actually liked the look, kind of squat and low to the ground. No issues with rub on the factory fenders/liners (kicking myself now for buying Artec inner fenders that still haven’t been installed).

Ya i hear a lot of people complaining about poor up-travel cuz of those things. Nothing a sawzall can't fix!

But that’s what you need if you wanna keep stock fenders. Have you seen how much bumpstop Metal Cloak adds to a stock Rubicon with their 2.5” GameChanger?

Yep, I’ve installed a few MCs……… at least with pucks you can adjust and fine tune, if you decide to clearance fenders or replace them. With that baseball bat they make it hard for average person to adjust up travel. Sure it can be modified, but it’s just a pain in the ass……..

Has anyone actually measured how much longer it is over standard Rubi? It definitely seems longer then needed.

Yes but you are talking an aftermarket kit. If the factory put out a bumpstop set like that on a 70k Jeep they would be ridiculed. You are buying a rig with bigger tires and enough bumpstop to protect the fenders. If you want to modify the fenders for more uptravel then you do the same for the bumpstops like everyone else who modify the Rubi bumpstops to run hydraulic bumps of speed bumps.
In extreme flex a true size 35 just touch’s with factory fenders and liner that may not be the case with the Willys that doesn’t have highline fenders.
Jeep doesn’t have to offer bumpstop adjustability because they all have the same suspension, same fenders and the same tires. MC on the other hand has no idea what you have so they offer adjustability so you can Taylor it to your rig.

Dude…. I get it, my original post was me being funny, I understand the whole dynamics of it trust me. I fully understand why Jeep did what they did……. But I’m saying this in jest…..smile, life is short…..

You will probably need a new lift, new shocks, new wheels (or wheel spacers), new tires, and a new gate support. Pretty much replacing most of what the XR included...haha.
